by Meryl, 3 years agoI wasted so much time using different plugins to view the alt text of images on social media. Here's a simple and elegant solution. The alt text is right there at the bottom of the image (out of the way) and when there isn't one, you have clear confirmation. It's a great lesson on how bad automatic alt text is.

By checking first to see if an image has good alt text, you can feel good boosting or sharing, knowing you won't be excluding users from enjoying the post.
Reading the alt text tells you what the poster intended the graphic to convey, and gives you some examples to make your own alt text better! - Rated 5 out of 5by Mike Nolan, 3 years agoBeen using this extension for a few days but it's something I've wanted for a while and it's eye opening to see what alt text people are using on social media platforms. Particularly useful for those involved in posting on behalf of organisations but handy for everyone to use!
- Rated 5 out of 5by Jake Dolan, 3 years agoAfter only a short period of using Social visual alt text, it is already a tool that I greatly miss when it isn't enabled. I find seeing the quality and consistency of alt text from brands to thought leaders incredibly useful. It helps me write better alt text and hold myself accountable. Most importantly this extension exposes have how common it is for alt text to be missing or non-descriptive which drives home how necessary it is for us all to be better advocates for accessibility.
