- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13549977, 7 years agoi use trufflepiggy primarily as a productivity tool doing diagnosis and research work. adding custom search pages is one of trufflepiggy's best features supporting that approach. i added dnslookup.org, whois.com, and other sites that dont do search per se, but lookup, saving time not having to copy and paste everything.
i also use trufflepiggy to help me remember good search engines i stumbled upon.
this is very helpful since bookmarking or other extensions like pocket are not suited for that category of webpages.
the new context search feature improves the usage even more, because it also works when viewing PDF's and thus it is really helpful when reading a lot of papers.Developer response
posted 7 years agoAwesome, thank you for your kind words and contributing new searches to our database. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13549516, 7 years agoSuper easy to use and I didn´t know how much time I was wasting before!
I got recommendation for trufflepiggy from a friend, but I was lazy and I didn´t wanted to invest time in another new program. Then my friend told me another time again how much he is using it and how helpful it was... so I have given it a chance and it turns out that it is super helpful indeed and quite simple to understand how to use it.
And I do like the little piggy nose-button I see now so often <3
I just can recommend to give it a try!Developer response

posted 7 years agoHi, thanks for your comment. Unfortunately you couldn't be more wrong about the trackers. The extension doesn't include any trackers. No analytics or anything. No stats are being taken. Context Search is designed with privacy in mind. Only on our website you can find Google Analytics, with the anonymized IP option activated, as clearly stated in our privacy policy. That's the only 3rd party tool I use right now on my website. Since the user generated searches are stored on my server you probably noted the Analytics script on the welcome and setup pages. But that's it. Your Context Search doesn't include or send any information to trackers.
You are right some searches include affiliate links, which are named by name in our terms of use. Due affiliate links I can offer my extensions for free and earn some money while developing them full time. You as user don't have any disadvantage because of it. The prices are the same and if you use those websites you are supporting me as a developer. You may have noted that even all built in Firefox Amazon Links are affiliate links for the very same reason.
I wish you would have asked for more information or read our tos and detailed privacy policy to inform yourself before giving a bad rating. I hope you consider updating your rating. Thank you.
