UltimaDark - The Fastest Dark Mode Extension by ThomazPom

by Firefox user 18294836, 9 months agoI just change my star rating to 5. The latest update really good, it fixes a issue that a lot of sites become dark and unusable✨
---
Everything is working as expect. But there is a bug in some sites changing all text to unreadable letter.
I think HTML filtering is the cause.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14181739, 3 hours agoI've used a few different dark mode extensions over the years, but UltimaDark is FAST! Not only is it fast, but it handles websites with progressively loading content far better than even the fabled Dark Reader.
- Rated 5 out of 5by romɛro, 14 hours agoLooks like there's a bug running it on Ironfox after the update... has to be manually enabled. Runs fine in Iceraven
- Rated 5 out of 5by CTW, 20 hours agoI'm really glad to see this excellent extension getting an update! For me, one of the biggest hurdles in moving away from Chrome-based browsers has been finding a good dark mode solution. This extension has great potential to remove that hurdle, which is why it's the one I care about the most. The updated modern UI looks fantastic, and I hope more people will discover how great this extension is.
- Rated 5 out of 5by DaemonCipher, a day agoThe GOAT dark mode extension has been updated! Thank you for your hard work ThomazPom! Seems to work so much better than before.

Update: After deleting and installing the add-on, everything works now fine so five stars again!Developer response

However, I see there hasn't been any new updates this year. Really hope you don't abandon this awesome project!

posted 2 days agoI’ve been back on UltimaDark development for a few days, and the new modern UI and feature improvements in the upcoming release are already significant. - Rated 3 out of 5by 你國當代著名小學生, 7 days ago1.exclude "google.com.hk" but actually“*.com.hk”

1/ You missused the "precision" setting

- Rated 4 out of 5by Terry, 2 months agoUD's way more lightweight than the bigger extensions; thank you so much Thomaz!
One issue I've been running into is Twitch streams being covered by the extension. I've tried changing the "precision" value (tried 1, tried 10) and it hasn't seemed to make a difference. Hope you can provide some help with that, but great work otherwise!!
Edit: I see that this issue's been brought up on github back in February. Hopefully progress on that's still going well! - Rated 4 out of 5by Craig, 2 months ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by Nokami, 2 months agoOnly using for a few days now, but the performance difference compared to the absurd Night Reader is instantly noticable. It's certainly not perfect yet but after changing to this it's difficult to go back.
- Rated 5 out of 5by emvaized, 3 months agoGreat addon! Would be awesome if you could apply dark mode per window, so that I can keep the window on the main monitor with light theme, and apply dark mode for websites only on a secondary monitor.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13229307, 3 months agoJust the fact that you have to reload if you change a setting makes this worthless.
- Rated 5 out of 5by isuru, 3 months agoOh goodness, finally, a dark mode extension that works well enough and does not destroy my device. Thank you. We can deal with the bugs, please keep developing <3 (and yes its seriously fast)

posted 3 months agoI’m still working on it. I’m in a pause but next update will fix more bugs and bring new ui - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 18943576, 4 months agoIt hasn't actually worked yet. It doesn't change anything about the pages on this website, for example, or YouTube. Something may be blocking it, but I enabled permissions when asked by Firefox. I don't think it's uBlock, because it behaves the same way when that's disabled. Please advise! Or help

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17715939, 6 months agoWould love to be able to blacklist sites to not run this (Gmail behaves funky when this is enabled, I'm sure there are more sites that I'll run into the future)
Other than that it works great.Developer response

A major user interface overhaul is coming soon! In the meantime, the current UI already allows you to exclude sites from being darkened. If you don’t see the extension’s button pinned in your toolbar, it might still be hidden under the puzzle piece (🧩) menu, where newly installed extensions are grouped - Rated 5 out of 5by Uriy, 6 months ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 18805902, 6 months agoIs it possible to set dark mode to automatic based on the ligh/dark theme on my phone? I cant find it..

posted 6 months agoThe Android version of UltimaDark is available primarily to satisfy a few users, but it is not actively tested. However, since it is identical to the browser version, it inherits bug fixes and new features automatically. While we’re happy to hear that some users have it working, please remember that UltimaDark remains a highly niche and experimental project, so your experience may vary.
That said, detection of the system night mode on desktop is already planned. If Android Firefox shares dark theme information with web extensions as Firefox Desktop does—which is very probably the case—then the Android version should inherit this functionality once implemented, with a bit of luck.
Thanks for your understanding and support! - Rated 4 out of 5by Cooper, 7 months agoI thought I would never use dark mode on browsers due to their performance hit. Then I found this.
