Reviews for Ant Video Downloader
Ant Video Downloader by ANT

by 16Media16, 5 years agoAnt Video Downloader used to work really well to download videos from a variety of websites but in the last 2 years it has become so unreliable that the majority of videos will either fail during the download or download in extremely low quality when they appear in full HD on screen. Sometimes if you keep refreshing the page and re-attempting the failed downloads they will eventually work. This makes it very frustrating to use and difficult to download videos so not sure what happened to it. For anyone looking for a solution that works, Download Helper seems to do the job and reliably download videos from all the sites that used to work with Ant but now do not.

As a user of this extension for about 10 years ...a couple of years ago (2021) when they did the update to the new interface style etc. I immediately warned people to not use it.
Its bad, breaks everything, I reverted back to the last oldest version before that very update ... and I am still using that very version (4.9.2) right now.
I find that it still works good and better then any later version ever could.
I see things havent exactly gotten better since the last time I checked in here.
I also see some people asking for the native app but can't find any. I still have it.
mediafire.com/file/3pzb6vrwhsg6ahr/AVD_4.9.2.rar/file
This rar includes the original 4.9.2 addon installation files for Firefox and the matching native app.
For those interested;
Uninstall any current version of the addon and native app.
Simply extract the .rar
Drag the fx.xpi file into firefox, and it should pop up asking to install
Install the native app if you want
But in Firefox, disable Auto updates on this extension, it just ruins it.
In case you were going to want to try .... I can not guarantee that this specific native app version works with a later browser addon version either. It might just start crying about how that's not up to date. I am not gonna go through the trouble of testing it, I just don't care enough. There are other browser addons to begin with as well.
Now if I could only get Mozilla to stop making stupid changes nobody asked for to begin with as they have done in the past few years ... we'd all be happy campers. - Rated 2 out of 5by SzymonL, a month ago

"Sorry to announce but Ant Video downloader is discontinued and will no longer be updated. Support is closed." - Rated 1 out of 5by Ebacci, 2 months agoIt requires you to install a shady desktop program for it to work. What's the point of installing a web extension then...

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18649033, 2 months agoI give it 5 stars because I tried it against another download app with the same features but the latter did not give me a very good result. I see that in both apps, the video is downloaded in segments, but in the latter the contrast between audio and video is very noticeable. On the other hand, in this one it gives a better result, but even so there is a small cut in the image at certain moments of the video. I have downloaded a 20-minute video in both apps, this one has a better performance but visualizing the result, I still think it needs to be fine-tuned a bit more.
