- Rated 1 out of 5by LudwigWN, 5 years agoThis extension used to work wonderfully. Of recent however, it seems, more often than not, to not merge the audio & video streams for video downloads. This bug was accepted a while ago [Ticket#425947] but no remedy has yet been made available.
From time to time it also seems to think gmail email or calendar webpages are worthy to "download"!! Of course, trying to play the downloaded result fails - most recent example is a calendar web page display downloading as a BIN file.
I will update my rating once these issues are resolved.
NB: another support page lodgment has been provided with further details on the separation issue 15Jun20.Developer response

Default save location is the "c:\Users\username\Downloads" folder even if you've moved the library to another location. Seems to be slight pulse effect between video segments on stream captures.

- Rated 5 out of 5by The_Original_Alex_Portnoy, 5 years agoAVD wasn't working for me at first, but, with their help, it's working perfectly now. This rating is as much for the support as the app itself.
UPDATE: Discontinued since 1 March 2023. Thanks very much for a great app!Developer response

posted 5 years agoUnfortunately current AVD version doesn't support manual video format selection.
MKV format was added to some media websites as mos suitable container for Opus audio.

- Rated 2 out of 5by Joy, 5 years agoThis was working well, and then it got updated. Now it finds every possible video that it can datamine. What a mess, dozens of videos show up, most of whch aren't even in an open tab! In addition, I can't seem to find the download lst of current and past downloads. This is not an upgrade, it's a downgrade. Please go back to the last iteration.

- Rated 1 out of 5by 16Media16, 5 years agoAnt Video Downloader used to work really well to download videos from a variety of websites but in the last 2 years it has become so unreliable that the majority of videos will either fail during the download or download in extremely low quality when they appear in full HD on screen. Sometimes if you keep refreshing the page and re-attempting the failed downloads they will eventually work. This makes it very frustrating to use and difficult to download videos so not sure what happened to it. For anyone looking for a solution that works, Download Helper seems to do the job and reliably download videos from all the sites that used to work with Ant but now do not.
