This will delete any data in the extension storage, and reload the extension.
If you still encounter the issues after this operations please contact with details to our support here: https://www.ant.com/support_form - Rated 1 out of 5by Nightwatch, 3 years agoRecent updates have broken this extension, yes even the update as of 01-18-2022. The memory leak is still in effect as is the CPU use cycles. The only difference I can see is that the firefox.exe that is hammering the RAM will now close when closing the browser (before you had to kill it in the task manager.) This extension's high resource use is enough that I am considering it potential malware.
Update. After uninstalling and reinstalling the ap, the memory leak seems to be resolved, as is the CPU thrashing. The mod once again seems to be functional, I will increase the rating of this addon if it continues to work as designed for a few more days.Developer response

If you still encountering the same problem after this operations please contact with details about your system and browser to our support here: https://www.ant.com/support_form - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13445157, 3 years agoThe latest update completely ruined this add-on. It absolutely destroys memory and performance for Firefox.
It makes the entire browser lag even when you're just opening a new tab. I confirmed Ant Video Downloader was the problem and haven't had an issue since disabling it.
Hoping for an update that makes it usable again but for now I don't recommend it.Developer response

If you still encountering the same issue after this operations please contact with details about your system and browser to our support here: https://www.ant.com/support_form - Rated 1 out of 5by Zentula, 3 years agoSomeone created a complicated update and ruined the programming, now the extension is essentially a malware.
I had to uninstall the extension two days ago. I studied computer science and did some programming many years ago hence I still recognize a blatant MEMORY LEAK and THRASHING - meaning this extension exponentially consumes excess system RAM until virtual memory is activated essentially hanging your computer that even a proper shutdown is near-impossible. The memory consumption is uncontrollable and very risky for a hard drive. It took me quite sometime to isolate the problem to this extension. Once Firefox is activated the system RAM begins to run wild after about a minute.
The affected firefox process is the one controlling all firefox extentions, hence terminating it stabilizes firefox and the computer but it kills all active extensions. You can activate each extension individually, but the moment you activate this Ant Video Downloader the issue will begin again.
I wonder if software development standards have dropped so bad that a program like this is allowed on a major web browser like firefox, even though I have reported the problem no one seems to care. You guys should deactivate the extension until the issue is fixed, or just totally remove the last update and create a completely new update rather than try to isolate one issue in a bad program.Developer response

Please contact with details about your problem to our support here: https://www.ant.com/support_form - Rated 1 out of 5by Augur, 3 years agoIt worked fine until the last update. Now, this thing slows Firefox down to a crawl, eats >95% of my available RAM, and it is impossible to access the menu even after reinstalling it or restarting Firefox, before memory usage blasts through the roof, because the menu won't even show up.
Clearly, as many other users have said, the devs should revert to the previous version and leave it at that, because it was nice, unobtrusive and did the job as asked. We don't need no fancy stuff or whatever, just tell me what videos are on the current tab (limit the displayed list to 5 or 10 items if there's a lot of videos, with a link to open a complete list if needed, which should hardly ever be needed), allow me to select which ones I want to download and where, and that's it.
I'll keep an eye here to see if the devs come back to their senses, but I'm also going to look for other apps doing the same job. If I find a good one, I'm probably not coming back though. Too bad, this extensions had been awesome for many years, but not anymore.Developer response

Please contact with details about your problem to our support here: https://www.ant.com/support_form - Rated 1 out of 5by phoenix, 3 years agoI'm not a techie, so I wasn't able to determine the cause of my recent PC problems and inability to get web pages to download prior to reading about the similar experiences of many others here with the ANT extension. The only thing my internet provider could suggest was a faulty modem since everything else checked out fine, so I unnecessarily spent over $100 to buy one, and endured the worst week of my internet surfing life, bar none. To the developers: you are clearly not following proper program development protocols to safeguard those who put their trust in you. It's time to start.
Developer response
posted 3 years agoSorry to hear that. Hope you didn't buy it from the provider? Because they could easily determine connectivity issues with faulty equipment remotely, not suggest.
If you encounter issues with your web browser, you can do the following:
1) Start Firefox in Safe mode. To do this, hold down the Shift key and click the Firefox icon. Once the window "Open Firefox in Troubleshoot mode?" appears, release the Shift button. This will start the web browser in safe mode, with all extensions disabled. In this mode, you can remove or disable extensions that cause issues.
2) If you use Windows operating system, you already have yet another web browser installed, either IE 11 or Edge. You can temporarily use it to google for troubleshooting or to connect with our support.
We're going to release version 4.13 soon, and if the issue is gone, we shall provide detailed information on it in the release notes. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14189028, 3 years ago

等更新完好使了再回来改评价 - Rated 1 out of 5by cherrjus, 3 years agoRecent update caused memory leak BAD...Dont tell me to update Native app..that is up to date. It is this extension via troubleshooting mode. Normal memory load is less than a gig. Enable this one extension and it skyrockets to 5GB immediately then crawls its way up to 8GB before browser is unusable and I need to kill the leaking process.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 17226500, 3 years agoI found out this evening that this extension was causing Firefox to slow to a crawl. Thank goodness troubleshooting mode is there. I had to use that to finish removing this from the browser and made sure to report it for slowing down my computer.. You broke this extension with that terrible update. When it does load which is rarely. It loads every single video which can no longer be cleared. Your nonsense fixes are not worth the time based on the complaints i have read. Roll this useless update back completely since you can't get it to work properly and i will come back.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Deniz Kocatepe, 3 years agoWhenever I install this plugin my computer slows down drastically. this cannot be normal.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Frank, 3 years agoAVD used to be Perfect! I could download it, use it, get the video file, and view it. It worked. Now, with every update it's getting worse and worse! Not only does it not work no more, my computer crashes so bad my only option is to hold down the power button and restart my computer. Why?! Why did you guys have to mess with perfection? It was perfect, it didn't need any updates! Now, your latest update needs to be updated again because not only does it not work, it causes my computer to crash!
Developer Response: Well sir what you need to do is...
No! What you need to do is re-upload "AVD-NativeApp-3.3.40-Release" Leave AMD alone and work on a different project. This gonna be like "Adobe Flash" just keep messing with it till you destroy it.Developer response

2) Remove AVD
3) Google "firefox remove extension data"
4) Remove extension data
5) Reinstall AVD 4.12. Wipe out storage for the final shot.
Get back if it didn't help."
Before reading your reply I've unistalled the extension and deleted most of the files that had antt in their content.
Reinstalled addon (and host app). Worked fine, so wipe/reset from addon options. Unfortunately after a few hours everething went back to the same shit with memory leaks.
Do you want me to remove all of the storage\permanent\chrome\idb contents? Like my other extensions data?
If the problem persists I'll prolly revert to the old version which I liked better (more streamlined, less clutter). Unless the problem lies with the host app.Developer response
posted 3 years agoThank you for feedback.
Once you run Wipe out and reset, then no need to remove all extension data.
Can you please contact support and provide more information about your activity in the last few hours (websites you visited, video downloaded, any settings you turned on)?
If you're using Windows 10/11, expand firefox process in the task manager to see if a subprocess like avd-host.exe or ffmpeg.exe are causing the issue.
Also, what's your browser and operating system versions, hardware you use? The more information you provide the better.

Thanks again. - Rated 1 out of 5by Rushjunkie, 3 years agoYou've broke it. You need to go back a version, not try to create a fix for a problem you can't reproduce yourselves. You literally will lose so many users who will be looking for alternative add ons.
This used to be a great product, now its dangerous, and should not be installed. - Rated 1 out of 5by Skinny Pete, 3 years agoThis is the worst software update i've ever seen in my life, everything was working good until you decided to ruin it with this ridiculous, useless, dangerous update.
Like a lot of other people wrote in these last days, something is wrong with RAM usage, in my case it freeze my PC for minutes, not only the browser.
Don't trust you anymore, never using this again.Developer response
posted 3 years agoCan't remember we ever made such a decision. Can't imagine how would have it looked like.
Like we wrote to other people in these last days, resetting the extension storage should help resolve the issue. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15427212, 3 years agoCurrently (1/7/22), Ant takes up more than 5Gb of memory rendering Firefox unusable.
Developer response
posted 3 years agoCurrently, we're unable to reproduce the issue, but we suspect it may be caused when updating from version 4.9 to 4.10, and then to 4.11-4.12.
The problem may be in the data left from version 4.9. Unlike Chromium-based browsers, Firefox does not delete extension storage when you uninstall it, even in debugging mode.
Try resetting Ant Video downloader, go to Settings - Reset, click the WIPE OUT AND RESET button. This will delete any data in the extension storage, and reload the extension.

Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14554338, 3 years agobe very careful with this, there's a huge memory leak, I was at 20,000mb yes 20gb in my firefox browser in the last week or so, 01-06-2022 and I thought something was wrong with my net connection, updating games or devices, nothing, and I turned off about 25 addons in firefox, it was the ant. it took over 5-6gb just in the main window with nothing in it waiting to browse with some text boxes of other interesting news ff plops on there for $. when the meory leak is fixed, I'll put this back to 5/5.

Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience. - Rated 1 out of 5by Gullideckel, 3 years agoIt worked great until today. Now it eats all the RAM it can get and a lot of CPU immediately after browser startup. Currently, the addon makes using the browser impossible, so I had to disable it.
