- Rated 1 out of 5by Dwan, 3 years agoThis Addon used to be so great so this pains me to write this review.
The new update after V4.8 messed everything up on my PC. This update made my browser so slow and laggy that I thought I had malware on my computer. I even uninstalled and reinstalled my browser and performed a system restore which all turned out to be unnecessary because the culprit of my problems was right under my nose all along and I didn't even know it.
Once I disabled the Ant Downloader performance on my browser all returned to normal with no more lagging. I hate to say it but this is a BAD extension now and I don't intend to use it anymore unless their are same massive changes in the works to get this extension back on track.
Do better AVD!Developer response
posted 3 years agoSorry you had to perform extra steps to restore normal browser activity. Next time try running Firefox in safe mode first (firefox.exe -safe-mode).
Our TO-DO list with new features that users send to support and want them in AVD does not fit the screen. There is such term as "growth pain": sometimes we're making big changes to AVD to extend it and make new features possible. Inevitably there will be issues at first; version 4.10-4.12 is the largest change since 2017. No matter how well we test each version before release, there can be pitfalls we're unaware of unless we release the version to the wide public.
Please, perform reset of the extension at Settings - Reset, and let us know if you still encountering the issues.
Thank you. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13425481, 3 years ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by parkj, 3 years agoI'm not sure what happened to my go-to video downloader after this "update". It shows every type of media for download in a cluttered UI and the list of issues goes on and on.

In case of any problems with downloading please contact with more details to our support here: https://www.ant.com/support_form - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16533722, 3 years agoUp until a few days ago before it was updated, this was the go-to downloader fo me. Now it takes forever (up to 5-10 minutes for the videos to be detected) and there is no button to clear the cache. It still lists downloads on sites from several week ago which totally clutters the video list. I've had to remove the add-on and reload it to try to clear this annoying cache memory.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Joshua, 3 years agoWhat once was great with release 4.9, is now 100% junk with version 4.10. Instead of just listing vids, downloading/downloaded it now logs every vid that runs on any web or social media site. There are better, easier, to use, down-loaders for YouTube, Twitter, Facebook ect..., than Ant. Just wait until you try to delete or clear the Ant list. What fun that is. IMO, ANT is nothing more than another form of spy/tracking ware. I have dumped it and will not go back to it after reloading version 4.9. that now runs with the newer junk as well.

Worst update ever...
There is not just 1 problem, there are many.
The popup to start the download only appears as a small white line, downloads simply stall, the list of videos grows and grows and cannot be reduced in size.
It used to be great, but now it is a mess...
Please, in the next update, go back to a simplified and user-friendly version !Developer response

The popup to start the download only appears as a small white line, downloads simply stall, the list of videos grows and grows and cannot be reduced in size. (Why can't I turn this off), deleting does not work, the browser now always needs 1 complete CPU (with me about 12% CPU load), the video lists for download do not update, the UI remains, although the download probably continues in the background goes, the new UI is terribly confusing. I have to click 20 times before I get the list of the latest downloads. (This is actually the only list I need, the others are superfluous) ...Developer response

We are sorry that you are facing these problems after the update. - Rated 1 out of 5by Private Use, 3 years agoEvery "update" of FireFox Ant just gets worse and worse.
The 1st update caused download speeds to slow 90%.
Then another update caused the downloads folder to show the wrong location.
Yet another update caused a video list to appear on a tab that had *NO* videos on it.
Then another update caused a ton of .txt files to appear as if they *ARE* videos.
The current update displays the file names and size with the ends all chopped off.
And everything locks up until the Windows Desktop is refreshed/rebuilt.
100% CPU load from FireFox.
Ugh.
What is going on with this big mess? Are you doing 0 testing and just randomly
releasing code that can't possibly ever work?Developer response

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and hope for your understanding. - Rated 1 out of 5by rsnunez, 3 years agoIt used to be great, but now it is a mess... there is no way to clear the list. I have more than a 1K videos detected for downloading and no way to delete them. The delete and hard reset options never do their job... A real mess...

posted 3 years agoMake sure you're not confusing Proceed button with Cancel, like many users do. Anyway, the new version is going to be released soon. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13793349, 3 years agoI'd rate this 5 but when this add on gets laggier the more videos I download. Often times when I click the add on icon, the download panel doesn't show up until over 10 minutes later.. it's just ridiculously laggy. Plus on the add on tab, filter by tab is pretty much useless since the tabs title isn't even there, instead it's just some numbers. How am I supposed to figure out which tab is it.
Developer response
posted 3 years agoThose aren't some numbers, those are tab identifiers, assigned by the web browser. We can add title to each tab in the list, but title is constantly changing, and soon will become irrelevant to those videos that were detected. Note that there is a small button 'Switch to tab' that switches to the tab, on which videos were detected.
We're rolling out version 4.12 on the next week, where All videos page is going to function like the old Downloads page. Hope you'll like it and will yet rate us with 5 stars :-) - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16308997, 3 years agoIt is a mess till last update. Best Downloader before, unusable now.

Now it's bloatware that crashes firefox and causes massive memory leaks. Some genius decided to mess with something that didn't need to be messed with. Pity.
**UPDATE
Useless developers are now telling users to reset the add-on when the massive memory leak occurs and assume this is actually a fix. Laughable. Devs, you need to trash this update and go BACK to the old version pronto.Developer response

Very slow, could not do my downloads like before. Before update worked very well and very fast. Fire the new programmer. Update back to the old version.

Interface is messy, hard to see what videos are being downloaded, cannot delete history. 4.11 attempted to fix the history problem by adding a clear files tab, problem is it doesn't work. The last 2 updates are good examples of how to take a good product and destroy it.

posted 3 years agoPlease contact with more details about with Clear List feature problem to our support here: https://www.ant.com/support_form - Rated 1 out of 5by orzys, 3 years agoThis was a great if not the best addon of its kind. Now after the 'revamp' it is unusable. The new UI is messy, the settings are severly lacking, it does not show the videos to the right sorting rules, it shows videos from all tabs in a specific one, it goes on and on. It is a nightmare. Unusable at this current state. Need a rollback as soon as possible or this is going to go to the addon graveyard.
Edit: Now, and apparently it happened to plenty others according to comments. Something happened in the past day or so, and there is a crazy memory leak. To the point not just firefox froze and became unusable, but I had to force boot my machine. Had to manually remove each addon to be sure Ant was the culprit, even though it was the obvious suspect.Developer response

It has been completely ruined, the UI is so bad, most of the time it doesn't even load the video list of a specific page. And what's up with the full history off all videos you came across, this thing is buggy as hell now! I guess, good job for ruining your extension, if this doesn't get fixed, it will be dead very soon.

Maybe it is a strategy for pushing users to download this software from their website and install direct on PC, not like an browser add-on.

In case of problems with detection at some website please contact with the link to the video to our support here: https://www.ant.com/support_form - Rated 1 out of 5by jfank, 3 years agoThis worked fine a couple days ago, then an update hit that made it so if you tried to check on a download the page would keep everything that it could download in the list which lead to thousands of idle downloads when you watched something from twitch or youtube that would lock down firefox if you tried to view downloads. Even though they said they would automatically be deleted they werent. Flash forward to today where another update hit that added a manual clear list that does absolutely nothing. The add on also likes to just stop working mid download and again if you try and check on it loading all videos locks down firefox. The add on also likes to just stop working now from time to time. It wont even load the box to see if there are videos that could be downloaded when you click on it.
