I will be donating to support your efforts!
Might you have recommendations on how best to manage windows nested several folder levels deep in Firefox bookmarks? There are power users and then extreme users, and I fall into the latter, thanks to marketing and website work.
Thank you!

EDIT (RESPONSE TO LIONEL): Yes, this sounds awesome! Some of my folders go five, six and even seven levels deep. It would be incredible if you could pull this off!
One other idea I have for you is to consider an option (a toggle switch for those who want it) that would work like this:
- A person unstashes a folder via Firefox Bookmark Manager by selecting Winger > unstash
- When it's time to close the browser window, they can select the Winger extension and Stash
- Could this folder name then receive a time stamp at the end such as YYYY-MM-DD - HH-MM-SS
My main reason for suggesting this is because I find myself always keeping a separate backup of tabs (in my deeply nested folders and subfolders) I produce via the Tab Manager extension (copy tabs to clipboard). I am doing this because I fear what would happen to my tabs in a folder if, when unstashed, my computer or Firefox crashes because the tabs in the folder aren't part of bookmarks anymore.
Using Workona on Firefox was a ghastly experience, with tabs disappearing and literally sliding around, creating havoc. I also lost thousands of tabs while using Safari's native window-tab manager, and no backups are created. From now on, I will leverage only a bookmarks solution so that I always have a record of my tabs.
I learned my lesson and trust no technology. My idea would help solve this problem (by keeping a backup in place), but I recognize it would create some clutter (old folders) to have to deal with. Not everyone would want this, so this should be an option.
One final idea would be to implement the time-stamp idea above but for these folders to live solely as a backup. I have no idea whether this wild idea could ever be implemented, but picture having one main folder called FOLDER NAME (and nested subfolders) as the area the user actually unstashes from. Picture having a separate folder called FOLDER NAME - TIME STAMPS (also with nested subfolders) that serves solely as a backup containing stashed folders and tabs. It would be a mirrored folder, with time stamps, for safekeeping.
Thank you kindly, Lionel, and enjoy a super day! 🌞Developer response
posted 6 days agoThank you, cheers! Winger beats Workona? 🥰
One early idea I had for the stash feature was to make nested folders meaningful - they could unstash into windows with "folder: subfolder"-patterned names, and they could stash back into nested folders. How does that sound? I think it's time to revisit the idea.. - Rated 5 out of 5by ufvweb, 4 months agoAn excellent extension - thank you.
Thinking better for memory than tabbing things all in to one window.
Feedback: Would love to see an option that also shows the /viewstashed in the list as well, instead of having to type in /view ... This could be an option setting?
Otherwise - great work! - Rated 5 out of 5by svandragt, 4 months agoI actually made my own "Send tab to another window" extension, then stumbled on Winger, which does it more reliably. I am also using a window per project and Winger seems to manage this workflow better than anything else I've tried.

the perfect companion I was looking for to
• "All Tabs Helper"
for an overview of (+ search among) all tabs, in all windows
(does ATH offer an API to its window naming feature ?
would be great if names in Winger could update ATH ones...)
• "Bookmarks Commander"
for adding/removing bookmarks to/from stashed windows, searching...
nice : the ability to unstash any bookmarks folder in a NEW window
tip : make the "stash folder" the first one in whatever group you use in the bookmarks manager ( "Bookmarks Toolbar", "Bookmarks Menu", "Other Bookmarks ") : easy/quick selection when one wants to stash a subset of tabs but not the whole window (just have then to close them once bookmarked/stashed)
bought you a coffee
such a carefully crafted extension deserves it - Rated 5 out of 5by Vandrexga, 7 months agoExcellent add-on, I was moving from Chrome to Firefox and was just looking for a replacement for the ability to send tabs between windows, and this extension does exactly that and even goes above and beyond with its functionalities. I like to work mostly with keyboard without having to constantly reach for the mouse, and the fact that the extension has keyboard control suits my need perfectly.
- Rated 5 out of 5by DJ4AM, 7 months agoThis add-on is incredible. I wasn't sure if I would like this or not at first, but this became such an integral part of my workflow I couldn't live without it. I haven't even gotten into the more advanced features like Stash yet. Hope this sticks around for a long, long time!
- Rated 5 out of 5by Bhargu, 7 months agoI can't work without this extension anymore. To the point, functional and lightweight extension. The stash function is near perfect, being able to un-stash from the UI would have made it perfect.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Rex101, 9 months agoGreat add on for organizing windows! One big request. Can you add a keyboard shortcut for unstashing windows? It's a bit cumbersome using the mouse, and in my firefox if a window has many tabs (10+) it 'covers up', the context menu on right click.
How about /unstash [windowname] to restore a new window?
One more request: Allow user to 'move' a tab into a stashed folder. This would close the tab and add it to a stashed folder. This comes in handy when I don't want to review a tab right now, but I don't want to lose it.
Otherwise, great work and I can see this becoming a core part of the workflow for power users like me with a couple more fixes like the above.Developer response
posted 7 months agoAs of v2.9.0 you can now show stash folders in the panel with /viewstash. You can send tabs to them and unstash them from there.
You also have always been able to send tabs to folders by right-clicking on a folder to get that menu command. - Rated 5 out of 5by prempatel8, 10 months agoThe best window manager I have used so far, works very well with the Window Titler plugin to manage all open FireFox windows and tabs
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17822392, 10 months agoAbsolutely essential extension if you use multiple Firefox windows for different tasks/purposes. Also, if running KDE on Linux, this extension will expose window titles that you can use to apply window rules (e.g., open this Firefox window on this desktop, etc.).

posted a year agoThat shouldn't happen. The issue might not be with Winger. Please click support site or support email and provide me more information like your Firefox version, OS, steps to reproduce the issues, etc. thanks - Rated 5 out of 5by Bence Szalai, a year ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by ssssaaaa, 2 years agoThis is great. Woud love for there to be a stash button rather than typing it each time.
This has made me switch from my tab manager. Instead I stash windows in my bookmarks bar and unstash using the Bookmarks button (that I've added to the toolbar) or from the bookmarks bar (that I've set to show on new tab page).
Would love for there to be stash and unstash/archive buttons in the app for easier user. That would be five stars.
Thank you!Developer response

Stash listing/unstashing in the panel is definitely in my wishlist. - Rated 5 out of 5by Lej77, 2 years ago
