However, there are two (very minor) issues with the addon that I hope can be fixed in a future update.
1. There seems to be a hotkey (T) used to toggle the mode on and off. This hotkey remains active even when the video isn't focused. So if I try to write a comment in the comment section, pressing T toggles theater mode and makes it impossible to continue the comment.
2. Youtube did a recent facelift update and changed the data that is displayed near the video's title area. Now, if you turn theater mode on, this new data is stuck and overlayed over the video and doesn't go away.Developer response

The two issues should be fixed with version 3.0.3 (amongst other bugs):
1. The hotkey to toggle livestreams theater mode will not trigger anymore when focus is on a text area or input field.
2. I still get the old version of the title area, but found the new one in the code, which is probably currently delivered to some users as part of an A/B-testing. This new version of the title area should now be supported too, assuming that you get the same one I found in the code. - Rated 5 out of 5by FaKRaS, 4 years agoThis is amazing. Update: fixedDeveloper response
posted 4 years agoThank you for the report. There was an update on YouTube today that broke the extension. The newest version 2.0.2 should fix the issue. - Rated 5 out of 5by satiric, 4 years agoTwitch has had this feature for years, IDK why youtube has never implemented it. This extension works perfectly, haven't had any problems whatsoever.

- Rated 5 out of 5by NeXttime, 4 years agoMakes Youtube just like Twitch. Amazing! Wish it had a light and dark chat mode though, so I don't have to change it in Youtube itself every time

posted 4 years agoThank you for your feedback. The newest version includes an option 'Force dark theme in theater mode', no need to change the theme yourself anymore. - Rated 5 out of 5by Deagan, 4 years agoWorks excellently! Could you add a method for exiting the live chat mode with the ESC key as well?
Developer response
posted 4 years agoThank you for your feedback. The newest version does now exit theater mode when 'Esc', 'f' (fullscreen shortcut) or 't' (toggle between default youtube modes shortcut) are pressed. This only works if the video container has focus. - Rated 5 out of 5by xinitrc, 4 years agoWorks well as described. Unlike other review mentions, doesn't lag videos at all.
Would be cool if the chat panel could be removed automatically when popping out chat.Developer response
posted 4 years agoThank you for your feedback. With version 3.0.0 the chat panel is now automatically removed when chat is popped out, and added again when the popped out chat is closed. - Rated 5 out of 5by Crispus, 4 years agoDoes what is says, but it makes every youtube video and stream lag alot
Edit: I updated Firefox to 82.0.3 and the issue seems to be resolvedDeveloper response
posted 4 years agoThis extension should not in any way impact videos and streams, and only have minor, unnoticeable impact on site loading times. Please make sure your internet connection is fine and try disabling other extensions, to see if there is any conflict. If the problem persists please let me know your exact browser version (Firefox menu -> Help -> About Firefox).
