    Version 0.4.0

    Released Jul 25, 2026 - 196.99 KB
Works with firefox 140.0 and later
yunit is a small, attentive companion for foreign-language reading. It picks a handful of words on every page you visit and translates them quietly, just above the word, so vocabulary travels with you across the web.

yunit is in beta. Everything below works today, and it is all still changing. Features, limits, and prices may move while we learn what readers actually need.

What you get out of the box
    • Inline word annotations on any page, density adjustable
    • A per-word panel with translation, sentence context, definition, and pronunciation
    • Selection translation for full sentences and phrases
    • Dual-language reading mode (Alt+Shift+D) for side-by-side comprehension
    • Synced lyrics view on YouTube, each line glossed inline
    • Kept words return in your reading on a gentle schedule, and a short review session on the lexicon page covers the ones that stop appearing on their own
    • Per-site rules, so yunit pauses anywhere you say, or runs only on chosen sites

yunit is local-first by default. The picker, your vocabulary, and your settings live on your device. Anonymous use never touches our servers.

    Optional account

Sign in at yunit.app to back up your vocabulary once a day and sync your settings across devices. Premium adds live multi-device sync and sharper translations where the standard ones miss the meaning. The free tier stays useful without payment.

Prices and limits may change while yunit is in beta. If yours changes, we tell you before it takes effect, and the thirty-day refund stands either way.

    In beta

yunit is small, it is new, and it is used by a handful of readers who found it early. Things will move. If something is rough or missing, write to support@yunit.app. A person reads every message, and beta feedback decides what gets built next.

    Version 0.2.2

    Released Jun 9, 2026 - 142.41 KB
Works with firefox 140.0 and later
New in 0.2.2 (includes the unreleased 0.2.1 fixes):
    - Lyrics overlay appearance: an Aa menu in the lyrics panel with three contrast styles (shadow, outline, plate), four text colors, and three sizes. Choices sync across devices.
    - The overlay scales with the player size, can show the upcoming line, and moves out of the way of YouTube's own captions.
    - Lyrics open instantly on videos you have watched before, and a per-video sync adjustment is remembered.
    - Click any line of a synced song to replay it.
    - Better automatic song detection: the channel name is used as the artist when the video title is just the song name.
    - Click the active density dot to turn automatic annotations fully off; selection, hover, lyrics, and dual-language reading stay available.
    - Fixes: settings changes apply live across open tabs and devices, annotations stay readable on transparent backgrounds, the per-word panel keeps itself on screen, saved phrases can be deleted, reopening the lyrics panel no longer freezes the karaoke highlight, and the panel is fully styled for YouTube's dark theme.
