Thank you! That's very generous of you to give a 5 star review despite your concerns about the download size.

The download size is only about 14Mb but once that gets decompressed and stored in IndexedDB it swells to over 300Mb on disk. It seems like the IndexedDB indices are particularly large and at some point I hope to find a way to reduce them somewhat.

The up-side is that by storing the data in IndexedDB Rikaichamp uses much less memory when it is running and can be kept up-to-date by just downloading the changed records each week which is normally only a few kilobytes.

Sorry about the alarm it caused you though!

Great extension. Could you please add a way to copy hiragana/katakana that shows the romaji as well? It would be really helpful for people who are starting with japanese. Quite often I have to copy the expression into google translate to see the romaji.

I'm afraid I couldn't quite follow your suggestions, however. If you enable romaji display in the settings and look at a work like テスト you should see "tesuto" in the popup and also when you copy the entry.

(Note that the extension will not work on addons.mozilla.org because Firefox blocks extensions from working there.)

Seems promising, but there's no Japanese monolingual dictionary — avoid this extension if you want to actually learn the language.

This dictionary is doing all that I could dream of. Instant recognition via mouseover, the dictionary is complete, erudite but also very simple to access if you just want a straightforward translation.
Once you look up the word, you can find the kanji decomposition. It's detailed and easy at the same time. Please try.
