Kiwix es un visor offline de Wikipedia y otros contenidos. Para información completa, consulte el sitio oficial: https://kiwix.org/

Es necesario descargar un archivo (archivo ZIM) de https://download.kiwix.org/zim/, y almacenarlo en el dispositivo y seleccionarlo manualmente después de iniciar la extensión.

Puede buscar los títulos y contenido de los artículos, y leer cualquiera de ellos sin necesidad de tener acceso a Internet. ¡Todo el contenido de Wikipedia está dentro de tu dispositivo (incluyendo las imágenes)!

También funciona con una gran variedad de contenidos en formato OpenZIM: https://wiki.openzim.org/wiki/OpenZIM, pero esta aplicación se especializa en Wikipedia, Stack Exchange, Gutenberg y TED Talks.

Si su acceso a Internet es caro, escaso, lento. poco fiable, vigilado o censurado, aún puedes tener acceso a buena parte del conocimientos y de la cultura humanos.

Desafortunadamente, Firefox desactiva los Service Workers en Extensiones Web. Ver https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1344561

Esto nos impide utilizar la forma estándar de leer el contenido de ZIM. Hay dos soluciones:

La forma recomendada es usar el modo ServiceWorker a través de una Webapp Progresiva (que requiere un único acceso a Internet). Se hace automáticamente cuando elige el modo ServiceWorker;
Utilizar el modo obsoleto JQuery (que no funciona con todos los contenidos).
