Unfortunately, the recent update broke it completely and every attempt to record now fails with error message 'TypeError: The stream (in errored state) is not in the writable state and cannot be closed'. How can users revert to the previous working version and prevent update?

You can downgrade from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/live-recorder/versions/ (and toggle off auto updates for this add-on from about:addons), meanwhile I'll try and see if I can find & fix the bug soon.
Could you tell me, which version of FF are you using? And more details on when this happens (during recording? during download?), how and how often it happens (every time?), would make it easier to find this to fix this.

Bad News: it only saves in webm, and if you try to change it to mp4 or mov without using a converter, it breaks the video and only saves the audio.
I know webm isn't a problem for everyone and it literally advertises it (my dumbass didn't read that part), but I personally prefer mp4 or mov files. I've already tried a different screen recording extension, which was ass AND had the same webm problem, and this one works much better. - Se valoró con 3 de 5por 腐魂, hace 6 meses可以用，可以录到声音，使用也很方便，缺点就是分辨率低。致命问题是不能录到全部片段，例如：录一分钟的视频，只能播三秒钟，后面就直接没有，文件大小也是够一分钟的，却只能播放三秒钟！用剪辑软件打开，所有内容都是可以播放的！
