Didn't work (tested on images)

Does not do more than the Mesure-it addon, and is therefore not useful either, because the selected area is neither draggable nor resizeable. So you have to hit the area you want to measure with pixel accuracy right away (which is difficult). Otherwise you have to repeat the measurement until it fits sometime.
