upd: Now that I understood, how to use regular expressions with this extension, it's become really helpful. Thanks for your help.

Regular expressions work. They need to be configured correctly. They do not work only in a window without a group, since the tabs of this window do not belong to any group - accordingly, the rules do not apply to them.
