and I think it is a problem that winger will change my window name by default, can I turn off it? because it will cover my previous title when I import windows and tabs.Respuesta del desarrollador
publicado el hace 5 añosYou can switch windows pretty fast with: F1 {first letter of window name} Enter. You can even add numbers in names if you like, so you can type F1 1 Enter, for example.
Do you mean that default names change after browser restarts? Yes default names are always temporary as mentioned in the help guide. It's a good point though; maybe Winger can just do without them...
I don't understand what you mean by "import windows and tabs". Please email me to discuss this further.
Edit: I'm warming to the shortcut idea :) - Se valoró con 5 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 13439647, hace 5 años

I use Tree Tabs (also fantastic) to group them, usually four or five groups per page. Up to now, the FireFox menu showed only the active tab name, which didn't always make it clear what window/group that was. Now it's easy to see which window is Personal stuff, and so on.
And wiith Winger I don't have to go to the appropriate page when a question pops into my head. Just open the URL, and send the tab to the page it belongs in. This is super helpful when you don't actually want to look at the page right away — kind of like a detour with no time penalty.
Winger works flawlessly with Tree Tabs, the documentation is clear and very detailed, and it's free! These add-ons together make FireFox so much handier than Chrome or Safari I could really live without them. Amazing Winger has only 28 users at this writing. - Se valoró con 4 de 5por S_Cabrera, hace 5 añosWhenever I restart Firefox, my window names revert back to Window 1, Window 2, etc. Is this by design?

publicado el hace 5 añosNo that shouldn't happen. Please email me or submit a GitHub issue ("support email" and "support site" on the main Winger page) and let's work out the problem. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por iudex, hace 5 añosI tried using windows to manage my tabs before, but it was complicated to move around them. This window manager is the missing piece to this workflow, I'm really glad I stumbled upon it!

I struggle with being able to group windows as well as tabs ...this is a better step in this direction than anything else I have yet found. While it does not actually group windows, the naming feature facilitates a manner of grouping.
For instance, I may have 500 tabs open in about 40 to 50 windows (I do lots of research and development in various fields). If I have several "news" groups open I can tag (adding a name) each window News1, News2, etc, ir even something like News1-tech, News2-politics, News3-foriegn aid research, etc etc.
Then I can
- move tabs between windows,
- search on the labels without Tab-WindowTitles of Tabs that are not currently the focus in a particular window cluttering up my search (I have Tabhunter for that)
...and there are a number of elegant management tools and settings that come with.
They deleted my old account here, I have been on Moz since the beginning, and am a coder. This is a work very well done, simple, and effective. thank you very much Lionel.Respuesta del desarrollador
publicado el hace 6 añosThank you for your kind words. It means a lot.
Grouping windows would be an OS-level task, and the solution is the multi-desktop/workspace feature on most modern OSes, or you can try third-party app alternatives (which I'd do for Windows10, as I currently find its built-in feature a bit lacking).
But yes, naming can in a way facilitate grouping. Good thinking! I do it too, and I intend to document it as a tip in the help page for the next update. I like to go with e.g. news, news/tech, news/politics, etc. With whatever naming pattern used, typing "news" in the panel will show a list of all the news windows. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 15904869, hace 6 años
