I DLed this so I could translate a couple of pages on a German website....this does not work, it did not translate anything at all.

Hello, thank you for reporting this. What version of the addon have you installed?
Update: this was a visual bug, and was fixed in the 3.7 version. We should wait some hours to Firefox approved the new release.
Update2: The new version is available and fixed this bug.
