Ghostery is to trackers what ad-blocking programs are to annoying ads. They smite them. Actually, Ghostery is programmable, so you can set your preferences. Certain trackers are required for the site to function properly. You can green light those, but have it block all the rest.
The program runs quietly in the background. The only things I ever hear from it (meaning a pop-up message) is when it discovers new trackers and offers me the chance to review them, if I'd like to. There's a tiny blue ghost icon on my tool bar, and a little purple circle that pops up as a site loads. It's almost fun to see just how many trackers some sites are running on their users. Six to ten isn't horrible, but my cell phone company had 24, and a news/commentary site had 47. Forty-seven different trackers. And they were blocked. I recommend this program to anyone who spends any real time online.

I switched from Chrome to Firefox to take control of who gets my browsing data, and Ghostery makes that possible. You can choose how much to share and with what websites.

Does the job without impairing browser speed or function. Works well with uBlock Origin. Just the right amount of options.

Our daily activities are being captured and used against us daily, and this tool lets me know who is using those tools to collect my habits and uses of the internet. Fantastic tool alerts me to cookies I feel are a threat to my privacy.

I have seen some trackers listed as Essential, but the page functions fine (for my purposes, at least) Still, a fantastic tool!

Thank you for developing this app, I feel myself more in privacy now.

IVE USED THIS PROGRAM SINCE ITS BIRTH, AND ITS STILL THE ONE THAT OWNS MY HEART. I KNOW USING IT IN CONJUNCTION WITH ADVERT BLOCKERS AND ALSO S STRONG POP UP BLOCKER IS THE ONLY WAY TO MANAGE SUCCESSFULLY, BUT THIS ONE APP NEVER SEEMS TO LET ME DOWN ON THE TRACKER BLOCKING! THOUGH THEY'VE CHANGED HOW IT APPEARS/WORKS A LITTLE, ITS STILL DOING ITS JOB...JUST HAVE TO TWEAK A LITTLE DIFFERENT? ANYWAY...THANKS TO GHOSTERLY TEAM I'M ALWAYS COVERED! Lovely app. Really loves how it block unwanted pages and popups.. love it

Easy to install, can be set to be non intrusive and it WORKS! Have used it for years. Sometimes I don't feel like using Tor
but I prefer not to be monitored and monetized.

Having used Ghostery for many years it is hard to imagine a browser without it. Ghostery is among the first add-ons that I put on my browser with every computer I purchase or use. It keeps out trackers and other things that I would rather not have looking at me while surfing on the web.

This tool is the best at blocking trackers. Sometimes I actually need those blocked trackers, like for comments, Ghostery makes it easy to disable only the ones you want. Superb tool for the privacy minded.

Doesnt get much better than that when your the type of person who always feels like there being watched

Those 'scary' trackers are certainly exorcised - I especially appreciate the "Tracker Options" segment ...

Excellent at blocking trackers. As sometimes blocks things that I do want to see, they make it easy to re-enable specific ones as needed. By signing in, I can't make these choices on one computer and have them made on another. Highly recommended.

I've been using Ghostery since it began and they just get better all the time. It's wonderful to be able to block the intrusive flashing ads and to be able to stop trackers dead in their paths. It's very easy to configure and just hides out like a transparent little ghost. Thanks for this service.

UPDATE: 3/22/24...Ghostery's newsletter is incredibly revealing about how our data is being used, especially by car manufacturers in collusion with insurers!
