Réponse du développeur
mis en ligne : il y a 5 ansAs the name suggests, you need this additional module only if you want to get text from your desktop (e. g. from a scanned invoice). If you only use Copyfish in the webbrowser you do *not* need it. Plus, of course, the XModule native app is not malware and bloatware at all. It is a very compact C++ module for taking screenshots. That is all. - Noté 1 sur 5par Utilisateur ou utilisatrice 15169816 de Firefox, il y a 6 ans

~ I have also found repeated instances of my quick select languages not working or even being reset to the default of none. (I think what happens is whenever I try to change a copyfish setting, it resets all previously altered settings back to the default).
~ When the quick select buttons ARE there, it doesn't allow me to switch between them while it is translating, and so with the removal of the translation feature, it just keeps trying to translate forever. (It seems that I can switch languages while it's still doing the OCR, but when it starts "translating", the buttons all go grey).
These are obvious and newly introduced problems that I feel negatively impact my experience with this add on.
Edit: Unfortunately, uninstalling and re-installing copyfish did not fix any of the issues I have been experiencing, though I understand and sympathize with your provided rational about why you removed the translate feature.Réponse du développeur

The translation feature had to be moved to the PRO+ plan, because the translation API provider raised the prices dramatically - so we can no longer afford to offer it for free. - Noté 1 sur 5par Chris Currier, il y a 6 ansUsed to work fine...no longer. Worked great as a simple OCR, but not the current version. Tries to always translate and never finishes. Will look for a simple OCR add-on, now that this is no longer available.

It does not need any 3rd party software, only an extension in Firefox. Thank you and 5 stars.

mis en ligne : il y a 6 ansThe new permissions are needed so that Copyfish can communicate with the UI.Vision XModule, which it uses for taking desktop screenshots, for the new desktop OCR feature. Of course, you only need to install the UI.Vision XModule if you want to OCR outside of the web browser, on the desktop. Typcial use case for this are grabbing text from desktop apps, popup dialogs, images, invoices, PDF,...).

PS: It would be great if you can change your 1-star review. - Noté 3 sur 5par anonymous, il y a 6 ansI agree with the previous reviewer that the new permissions look fishy, but it seems they are not currently abused. I unzipped the add-on and looked at the source.
"Exchange messages with programs other than Firefox" is used to communicate with the UI Vision XModule used for desktop OCR.
"Display notifications to you" is used to display notifications when you have a paid subscription that is about to expire, and for displaying messages when using the desktop capture feature.
"Access browser activity during navigation" I'm not sure about, it might be needed for some functionality to work but I didn't find anything obvious. There seems to be no feature like collecting browsing activity or something abusive like that.
Of course the permissions coul be used for abusive purposes in the future so it is always best to be a bit paranoid. Even with the permission system in Firefox you have to trust the developer to an extent.Réponse du développeur

- Noté 4 sur 5par Utilisateur ou utilisatrice 14562799 de Firefox, il y a 6 ansEasy to use & perfect, except in Firefox 66.05 the copy to clipboard button did not work. Clicking on the text from the OCR, then to select all, then copy to clipboard, it was perfect. No mistakes at all
