There's a few different addons for muting tabs by default, but I like this one because it's so simple. The other mute addons try to be too smart: they try to remember which tabs I unmuted, or only muting active tabs, all of which can lead to unexpected sound. I much prefer this addon. I just want everything muted unless I explicitly unmute it. It works great.

I love this add-on.
