I'm happy to let you know that notifications have been entirely removed in the most recent version (1.5.0) of the plugin. My apologies for any disruption they may have caused.
The Memex-style search window is an interesting idea, though it's likely out of scope for now. Regardless feel free to create a new feature request, on the Omnisearch Companion Github repository. Thank you again for the suggestion!
