How It Works
1. Select any text on a webpage
2. Hover over your selection for a moment
3. Get an instant AI-powered explanation that takes into account the full context of the page you're reading.
That's it. No copying and pasting into a search engine. No opening new tabs. No losing your place. Rhino brings the explanation to you, right where you need it.

Why Context Matters

Traditional dictionary lookups give you generic definitions. But words and phrases often mean different things depending on where they appear. A term in a medical article means something different than the same term in a legal document or a casual blog post. Eg: An emulator is someoneone that emulates but it can also be a hardware/software hat enables one computer system to behave like another.

Rhino understands the broader content to give you an explanation that actually makes sense for what you're reading. It doesn't just define words—it helps you understand them in context.

Perfect For

‱ Research and learning – Quickly understand technical terms, jargon, and specialized vocabulary in articles, papers, and documentation

‱ Reading news and articles – Get background on people, events, organizations, and references you're not familiar with

‱ Exploring new topics – Dive into unfamiliar subjects without getting lost in terminology

‱ Non-native English readers – Understand idioms, cultural references, and expressions that don't translate literally

‱ Professional development – Keep up with industry-specific language in your field

Key Features
  1. Multiple AI Providers
Choose from OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), or Google Gemini. Use whichever provider you prefer, or set up multiple as backups. Drag and drop to set your priority order—Rhino will automatically try the next provider if your primary one is unavailable.
    2. Streaming Responses
Explanations appear word by word as they're generated, so you start reading immediately instead of waiting for the full response.

3.Expanded View
Need more detail? Click "See more" to open a side panel with the full explanation in a comfortable reading format.

4.Lightweight and Fast
Rhino stays out of your way until you need it. No toolbar clutter, no intrusive popups, no background processes slowing down your browser.

5.Privacy-Respecting
Rhino follows a BYOK model: Bring your own key. Your selected text and page context are sent directly to your chosen AI provider—we never see or store your data. There's no account to create, no subscription to manage, and no tracking.

How to Get Started
  1. Install Rhino
  2. (Optional) Pin the extension to your toolbar to easily change API keys and change order of preference.
  3. Click the Rhino icon in your browser toolbar
  4. Add your API key for at least one provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini)
  5. Start selecting text on any webpage

API keys are available from:
‱ OpenAI: platform.openai.com
‱ Anthropic: console.anthropic.com
‱ Google AI Studio: aistudio.google.com

A Note on API Costs

Rhino uses your own API keys, which means you pay the AI provider directly based on your usage. The good news: explanations are short, so costs are minimal. A typical explanation costs a fraction of a cent. Most users spend less than a dollar per month even with heavy use.

Open and Transparent

Rhino is designed to be simple, focused, and respectful of your time and attention. No upsells, no premium tiers, no "upgrade to unlock" features. Every feature works the moment you install it.

Have feedback or suggestions? I'd love to hear from you. Rhino is actively developed and your input helps make it better for everyone.
