HOW IT WORKS

1. Open the extension popup.
2. Click "Try free — 20 min/day, no account" to start the free trial,
   OR sign in with your SecurePaid VPN account for unlimited.
3. (Paid only) choose an exit node — Los Angeles, Miami, or Warsaw.
4. Click Connect. The extension configures the browser's proxy
   settings to route every request through a TLS-encrypted HTTPS
   proxy on the chosen server.
5. Click Disconnect (or close the popup and let the session idle)
   when you're done. Your real IP is restored instantly.

WHAT WE COLLECT — AND WHAT WE DON'T

What we DO NOT collect or transmit:
• The URLs you visit
• Page content, form data, browsing history
• DNS queries
• Connection timestamps or session durations
• Your tabs, bookmarks, downloads, or any other browser surface

What the extension stores locally on your device:
• Your authentication token, if you signed in (cleared on sign-out).
• Your email and display name (cached for the popup).
• A randomly generated per-install device ID — only used by the
backend to enforce the standard concurrent-device limit. It is
not linked to your hardware, IP, or any browser fingerprinting
signal.
• Your last selected server and your settings.

What the free-tier guest mode stores:
• A short-lived guest session token (cleared on disconnect or when
the 20-minute quota runs out).
• A 16-byte random device identifier (the same one above) so the
backend's daily-quota counter can identify your install. No
account, email, or IP is involved.

PERMISSIONS — JUSTIFIED

• proxy — to point the browser at the chosen exit node.
• webRequest + webRequestAuthProvider — to silently answer the
proxy's authentication challenge, so you don't see a native
browser auth dialog.
• storage — for the auth token, the guest session token, and your
settings.
• alarms — for the 30-second free-trial heartbeat and the
15-minute paid-subscription re-check.
• notifications — optional connect / disconnect toasts (a Settings
toggle turns them off).
• <all_urls> host permission — required because the proxy applies
to every site you visit while connected.

The extension contains no analytics SDKs and no remote-code-loading
mechanisms. Every script that runs is in this package — fully
auditable in our public repo.
