This might be my favorite add-on of all time. Definitely worth the small payment.

Edit: fixed by reinstalling the extension, it apparently "somehow corrupted itself". Works fine now.

Currently seems broken. I see no titles or thumbnails whatsoever with this extension, even the videos that haven't been "dearrowed" just have a blank title and a gray thumbnail. No amount of waiting seems to load them so I have to disable the extension for now. Hopefully this gets fixed soon, when it works it's very good.

Renaming clickbait titles is a good idea, but in practice too many perfectly fine titles are changed to something stupid for no reason. I can't think of a good way to fix this, so I'm going to stop using DeArrow.

In Korea, there are a lot of fake video titles, almost all of which are different from the main content (especially news), but these extension don't change anything.
Honestly, if you were to filter out Korean videos that routinely lure users with more than 100 fake titles per minute, this extension would probably be installed by default on all browsers in Korea lol

Really cool add-on but it consistently makes youtube load slower, and sometimes not at all. Hopefully server side stuff gets solved soon.

It's much easier to see if a video is worth your time with this add-on.

Even if there is no crowdsourced descriptive title, this add-on will fix ALL CAPS and replace the thumbnail with a screenshot from the actual video. Very nice for those videos where the thumbnail looks cool but the video is just a talking head.

If you don't wanna pay, just say so on the website and you'll get a free key, the only price is that you have to wait a few days. As a poor person I really appreciate this!

I had to modify the source code to get the plugin to work without the paywall.

The introduction page says to click on the button at the bottom of the page to activate the extension for free (I don't want to pay) but there is no button to be found. There is the before/after image and that's about it.

Have been using for some time in Chrome on my work PC, now trying out also on Firefox at home. I actually really like how the add-on works. I see no slow-downs or glitches.

Some people are commenting that the descriptive titles tend to "spoil" the video but in my opinion this is exactly the point. You can always switch off the default replacements and then you only see the "dearrowed" description after clicking on the blue button.

The one issue I have is that since actual work of replacing clickbaits with descriptions is crowsourced, this extension needs more people using it. And I think for many people the short free trial is off-putting and they won't even bother to click "I don't want to pay" before uninstalling the whole thing. (I paid btw)
I think it would be glorious if the DeArrow functionality was eventually included in SponsorBlock which has a much bigger user base.

A good idea in theory, in practice it's used by geeks who: a) don't watch videos with clickbait titles, and b) will rename titles with practically no effect other than saying "I was here". DeArrow titles often make me more annoyed than clickbait titles do because of how frivolous the userbase is.

It does exactly what it says it does.

I like the idea but it makes youtube loading sooooo slow, even with extensions like unhook that hides videos from ever being visible, this extension is not compatible

EDIT: dev response is wrong, i understand what dearrow is, i read the description of the addon before i paid for it LOL. the problem is that it sucks at doing what it says it does for fundamental reasons.

clickbait = "sensational and unappealing packaging (the titles and thumbnails)" and tons of clickbait thumbnails and titles get through dearrow because this addon requires users of an addon who're allergic to clickbait already to willingly submit themselves to enduring low quality content in order to submit a new relevant title and thumbnail and remove said clickbait with dearrow. it just won't happen and prevents the addon from working as intended

dev, i recommend removing the crowdsourcing element of this addon *or* merely asking for donations instead of outright payment. you can't do both and you can't expect people to pay you to do work for you. a refund is actually kind of a ridiculous thing to offer. you want me to hop in your email to beg for a dollar? get real LOL. when you ask for payment you invite criticism and a refund is not relevant.

I paid a dollar for this app expecting to remove the clickbait from my Youtube experience but instead most of the actual clickbait (content farm videos with 1mil+ views) continue to appear unaltered while the titles from any even mildly popular genuine video creator get stripped of all creativity and even narratively spoiled in some cases.

the problem is fundamental due to the fact that this app is crowdsourced and because most of the actual clickbait is from channels that are so low quality that even the users of this app don't want to put in the effort to fix it. meanwhile the videos people actually put effort into get neutered because some geek thought the title wasn't definitionally accurate enough.

that's another thing, why are we paying to crowdsource our work? i only realized i was paying to work after i forked it over so shame on me i guess but it certainly left a slimy taste in my mouth afterwards.

END clickbait. Pair with SponsorBlock extension. Spare others the agony of clickbait. Apply business professional english to titles. Replace lame clickbait load frames. Everyone who matters wins. Continue to block youtube ads with privoxy, a loopback proxy for firefox.

The page where you can supposedly use it for free is broken due to a conflict with NoScript, and it can't be turned off for that page. Also, the addon page is incredibly misleading, with no indication of being a paid extension anywhere in the description (and no, the "Some features require payment" text is not enough).

This extension has a number of negative reviews which gave me some pause but knowing that the author penned 'SponsorBlock' gave me some trust. Reading those reviews it looks like they are primarily misconceptions due to not reading the description written by the extensions author. Keep in mind these two extensions are being written by a college student and this is a project he plans to continue developing outside of college.
The settings available give you a lot more control over your Youtube pages aesthetic by granting editing capability to the uniformity of each videos thumbnail and title. The different case types being options is a fantastic idea and I love having the ability to flip through the different settings and seeing how it makes me look at my home page differently. Great work, keep up the good development!!

Doesn't work, begs for money to activate, nonsense for a browser extension!

Good lord, the brain cells this has saved me already. I'm a cheap booger, but I fully endorse paying the optional $1 if you value your time, because this will save you so much of it.

To take one example from YouTube's recommendations: this extension's suggested titles change "The Cuphead RIP-OFF That Gets EVERYTHING Wrong" (exaggerated language, annoying all-caps, doesn't even name the game reviewed) into "Talking about Enchanted Portals and why it failed to live up to expectations" (names the game in question, summarises discussion, no sugar-fuelled screaming, could be made more concise).

It also changes the thumbnail to show the actual game under review instead of angry red-eyed Cuphead with the word "trash".

I'm neurodivergent and find clickbait language very annoying, and often just won't click on something if it seems deceptive or cagey about what the content will be. It actually causes me a non-zero degree of anxiety, and I don't like feeling manipulated like that. So this extension? Absolute game-changer.
