- Wurdearring: 5 fan 5troch raina, 3 jierren lynNice! Fixed my issue with https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/markdown-viewer-webext/ on Linux. I hadn't had issues with that extension on Windows and had set it to automatically open markdown files in Firefox. On Linux however, I got stuck in a loop where Firefox tried to open an .md file, spawned a new tab trying to do the same thing etc. With this extension, I was able to force the .md Content-Type to text/plain and finally view the file.
- Wurdearring: 1 fan 5troch Firefox-brûker 14825171, 3 jierren lynnot working :-(
I need to download a file with the extension .adi from the program Lotw.
That used to be no problem, but Firefox has recently updated and now it is no longer able to save that particular file with the extension .adi, Firefox does download the file but saves it without an extension, so I can't do anything with it.
With another program where an adi file also needs to be downloaded the file is saved correctly with the .adi extension.
Downloading the file with Edge does not give any problems ???Antwurd ûntwikkeler
3 jierren lyn pleatstI need more information to help you. You can submit an issue on https://github.com/jscher2000/Content-Type-Fixer-extension/issues or send an email to jscher2000@outlook.com .
Otherwise: Please check my general help page at https://www.jeffersonscher.com/ext/content-type-fixer.html and if you use automatic private browsing ("Never Remember History") make sure to enable the extension for private windows as described in https://support.mozilla.org/kb/extensions-private-browsing . - Wurdearring: 5 fan 5troch mau, 3 jierren lynWith the extension, .acsm files are downloaded and then automatically opened. (I think that it's necessary to store the file temporarily... you have to remember to declutter the download directory every now and then.)
I understand that section "add/edit content types" works only with new content types, since I did not see any file.
[thank you for the quick answer! I am updating the review, since it seems to be the only way to answer back. And I will wait for Firefox 102 for changing the location of downloads :-) ]Antwurd ûntwikkeler
3 jierren lyn pleatstThank you for your comments.
To turn off the fix for .acsm or any other extension, click "Enable/Disable Content Types". To adjust opening automatically vs. saving, try the steps in https://support.mozilla.org/kb/change-firefox-behavior-when-open-file
When you have a content type set to "Use [relevant application]" on the Settings page, Firefox 98+ uses the "Save files to" folder to save the file and pass it over to [relevant application]. Firefox 102 for Windows/Linux will have a preference in about:config to allow using the system Temp folder instead, similar to Firefox 97 and before (browser.download.start_downloads_in_tmp_dir). - Wurdearring: 5 fan 5troch maxelo, 3 jierren lyn

- Wurdearring: 3 fan 5troch brett, 4 jierren lynThis plugin does what it says however appears to have some PUP. For some websites the content is replaced with a mediafire download, even when the extension is "off". The page is not directed to a mediafire site, the content is replaced on the same site after page load. Uninstalling the extension stops this from happening.

4 jierren lyn pleatstHi Brett, when I searched for MediaFire, I found a content hosting site. It's possible that users embedded content from their MediaFire gallery into a page, and that the extension broke the embed by modifying one of the two headers (turning it into a download instead). In case this is about to affect a lot of uses, could you email me with more information about where you saw this problem? jscher2000@outlook.com Thanks. Antwurd ûntwikkeler
4 jierren lyn pleatstIf you would like assistance with the extension, reach out to me using one of the links on the main page in the More information section (Support site or Support Email).
To address a few limitations of the extension:
(1) Firefox detects certain files as executable and will not let you override the Save/Cancel dialog and open them automatically, even if you try to disguise the file as a different type.
(2) By default, the extension does not run in private windows. Check this article for steps to allow that: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/extensions-private-browsing
(3) If you select "Follow my settings (inline)" to override forced downloading, it doesn't apply to certain Google sites (because it causes a different error).
(4) The extension does not "see" files that are generated within a page using a script (blob's) or files opened from disk, only ones retrieved from the network.- Wurdearring: 5 fan 5troch Firefox-brûker 14900324, 4 jierren lyn

I've been looking to fix this problem for so long, OMG thank you !!!! - Wurdearring: 5 fan 5troch DawnDawn121988, 4 jierren lynThis was something I have been needing forever to help with my .Epub file issues with Firefox not having a "Save As" in the settings. And now it has fixed my problem thank you for the Add-on so very much I love it.
- Wurdearring: 5 fan 5troch Ed Randall, 4 jierren lynAwesome. Essentially provides the missing "Add Type" functionality for the about:preferences > Applications handler list.
Just 5 minutes after installing this extension, I now have the behaviours that I want for those downloads for which Firefox's opinions offered me no choice.
