The following privacy policy refers to Notefox Account, or if you have enabled the "Telemetry" or "Error logs automatically sent" features. If you don't use them, the Notefox add-on won't collect any data at all – data is not sent to the server.
Notefox: websites notes is an open-source project developed by Saverio Morelli.
It does not collect any personal data, except for your email, your public ip-address and the data that you decide to save in the add-on, which are anyway encrypted*.
All your data are encrypted with your password*, so only you can read them.
If you lose or forget your password, you will not be able to recover your data in any way.
The service doesn't use cookies, and it doesn't track you in any way.
The ip-addresses are collected for security purposes and for statistics, and they are not shared with third parties.
Notefox will send you emails only in these cases:
• When you sign up: to confirm your account
• When you signed up: to inform you that your account have been created
• When you log in: to confirm your login (Two Factor Authenticator)
• When you logged in: to inform you that your account have been logged in
• When you ask to delete your account: to confirm the deleting of your data
• When you deleted your account: to inform you that your account have been deleted
Notefox will never save unencrypted your email, so you'll never receive spam emails, marketing emails, or any other type of emails.
Pay attention: Notefox will never ask you for your data, your password, or other sensitive data, via email or other communication channels.
Telemetry
If you enable it, Notefox collects anonymous statistics about the usage of the add-on, to improve the product and to fix bugs more easily.
In particular, data are sent for each action user does in the add-on, like saving a note, deleting a note, editing a note, viewing a note, opening the add-on, closing the add-on, etc.
The collected data are the following:
• Notefox account (if you are logged in or not, as true or false)
• Anonymous user ID (a random string that doesn't identify you in any way)
• Date and time of the action and when it's saved on the database (client-side and server-side)
• Language of the browser
• Action (like "save-note", "delete-note", etc.) as a keyword
• Context (if any, like "options-page", "popup", etc.)
• URL of the website where you are (if any, like when you open the add-on on a specific website)
• Web browser information: name and version
• Notefox version
• Operating system (if detectable)
The collected data are not shared with third parties, and they are used only to improve the product.
They are only technical information and they don't identify you in any way.
Error logs
If you enable it, Notefox collects anonymous error logs, to fix bugs more easily.
The collected data are the following:
• Anonymous user ID (a random string that doesn't identify you in any way)
• Date and time of the error and when it's saved on the database (client-side and server-side)
• Context (if any, like "options-page", "popup", etc.)
• Error message (the actual error that happened)
• URL of the website where you are (if any, like when you open the add-on on a specific website)
• Notefox version
The collected data are not shared with third parties, and they are used only to fix bugs.
They are only technical information and they don't identify you in any way.
If you see any suspicious activity, please change your password as soon as possible.
And remember, if you lose your password, you will not be able to recover your data.

* Your password and your email are stored encrypted with the SHA-512 algorithm. Your IP address is stored as unencrypted data. Your username and your data (notes, settings, etc.) are stored encrypted with the AES-256 algorithm, and they can be decrypted only with your password.
