I am not sure what you mean by top left of dekstop, or by creating hidden files?
It's not possible to change the path (other than possibly the file name itself) with addons. - Wurdearring: 5 fan 5troch Firefox-brûker 15275508, 6 jierren lynWorks, but you MUST ENABLE THE SETTING "Run in Private Windows". Even if you're running it in a regular window.
If you forget to set this, it will not work and not show any error messages either.Antwurd ûntwikkeler

Unfortunately it's not possible to set the destination with addons, only plugins (to my knowledge) have proper filesystem access.
