I've been using Ghostery for 7 years already and I can say that it saved me from a couple of unwanted ads, popups, trackers...
As long as I'm browsing the internet, this trusty little addon will stay in my browser doing it's job like an unseen superhero.
Like they say: not all heroes wear capes... some wear sheets. :)

Was an AdBlocker user from Windows XP on. Switched to Ghostery when I started using Mozilla instead of IE11. Runs quietly and does it's job. Still compatible on Win7 Pro 64 platform. Computing is flawless and so is privacy.

I have been using Ghostery since 2014. I have installed the extension on all the browsers I use: Firefox, Chrome and Safari. I appreciate the service so much that I pay my contribution every year. Ghostery offers three qualities that make it unique:

- The extension is very stable and does not crash the browser. Ghostery also does not slow down browsing. Ghostery works perfectly on Fedora Linux and macOS (the two OS I use). For my uses, Ghostery is also very easy to access.

I've been using Ghostery across multiple browsers and multiple devices since the beta release. It still remains one of the 3 essential privacy extensions I insist upon securing your online activities with. The team has always updated the extension consistently and smoothly. Pretty much every other core extension I've used over the years has either had rough patches, controversies, or went straight belly-up. Never a hiccup with this one.

Why did the developer or developers decide to do one of the dumbest redesigns? I don't buy the based on user input BS. Typical statement made by poor developer design. Yes I've done website and app design. Put the "Pause Ghostery" button back when you click on the icon. It's quicker vs going into the settings. Like why? I need to be able to quickly toggle the pause frequently and now it's more clicks for zero reasons. I can still pause my UBlock Origin that way right on the icon click. But in it's place you tell the user where to go find it. We want the pause button back!

I don't even remember when I started using Ghostery. It's been so useful that I just forget that it's even there.

I have used Ghostery for so long. It has blocked various ads and trackers, making feel safe while being on the internet. However, I think recently the extension had gone through an update of some sort. After the update, it has not been blocking any ads and there are so many pop ups. If this continues to happen, I might consider using a different extension.

I use multiple machines, real and virtual. I have ghostery installed on every one. It's biggest feature is that it automates the opt out process. You just wait a couple of seconds and it's done. (Alas, this doesn't work on every website so some opt outs still require intervention.)

I do have a problem with some websites that use popups in normal operation. When this happens, I generally just try using a different browser without extensions installed. I should but haven't spent enough time to find out whether easier alternatives (like disabling Ghostery for the site) are always effective or whether some other extension or browser feature is actually causing the problem.

For about two weeks embedded 'Youtube' videos will not play on any websites. Filed a detailed report on Ghostery Support Page and have not had any response (That was a huge waste of time!). Worked great for years. Give it another day or two before I completely remove it. UPDATE: Support couldn't replicate. Asked for screenshot and other routine nonsense (I thought they were going to ask me to unplug Youtube and plug it back in! ) Never asked if I was signed into Youtube. That was the problem. CAN'T BE SIGNED INTO YOUTUBE. The only way around it is to turn-off AD TRACKING "globally" (every website) The specific Youtube site "exceptions" don't work as they should. I wonder how many people have this problem and just simply give up without contacting support and remove GHOSTERY. Might be many. One percent would be 10,000. Nah..I'm sure it's just me.

Ghostery is a great anti-track and anti-ad tool with abundant possibilities to adjust it to your needs. But it works already great just out of the box.
The support is marvelous.
