מאת משתמש Firefox 18331836, לפני שנתייםUsed this for like years to make my novels audiobooks and the desktop browser version of it works pretty well. IMO, the only good TTS voice is the microsoft zira one lol. Works very well for what it is, but the in-built firefox reader also has a TTS function, which is essentially the same thing. I don't discourage people from using this extension though, since it comes in handy when you just need one specific section TTS'd and it's quicker to activate than the in-built one.
An issue I found only on the desktop browser is that the highlighted text would jump ahead of the actual text the extension is reading and it would continue reading the text even if you press 'stop' (only in the case of the jumping highlighted text). Found that if this happens, press 'test' in the settings and the 'stop' after and it'll stop. Kind of annoying though since it happens every so often.
On the other hand, the mobile version of the extension is kinda meh. The issue I mentioned before doesn't seem to exist on mobile but a different one cropped up. On certain sites, or pages within the sites, the TTS randomly decides to change their voice to another. Again, only microsoft zira is listenable so it forces me to just stop the TTS and read manually.
Also, the 'sign in to use premium voices' have never acutally worked for me on mobile. Every time I click 'sign in', nothing appears T_T, lowkey frustrating. And apart from the offline voices, all of the voices don't work when I'm running on data. They do work when I'm using someone elses hotspot tho :(. Frustrating since I usually want to use mobile TTS when I'm out and about.

Review added 2026-01-30 for Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS ; snap info firefox = 147.0.2-1 latest/stable - דירוג 1 מתוך 5מאת משתמש Firefox 19710402, לפני חודשRouting you to the the Google TTS sales page and using the Demo box instead of hooking into the Google Cloud API is actually bananas. I can't believe that this thing still doesn't have proper voice fetching implementation after all these years.

Also I don't like that it automatically sets your setting to allow this developer access to ALL your data unless you change it but even then it piggies back off of google.translate. Also doesn't even read my full text book page just the title and then the page number. I don't like the reading in the extra window either. Idk why its a recommended extension.

- דירוג 1 מתוך 5מאת Joshua Weiss, לפני 3 חודשיםAppears to use translate.google.com to provide the service, and the new one on me is that extensions apparently can't block other extensions' requests, since umatrix, ublock, etc can be set to block google, and Rethink still shows FF making attempts. So, it basically reports your browsing to Google...that makes it intentionally spyware in my book. FF's own builtin "Read Aloud" will have to suffice atm.

-This tool is by far the most useful add-on I have on my Firefox. It allows me to quickly listen to wiki pages and Comments on videos without having to look at the text. I also enjoy the feature to add languages. Allowing me to Listen to Dutch pages and stories as well.
-I would suggest maybe a short tutorial video or a Q&A page on how to maximize the usefulness of this tool as many might have over looked features of this add-on. Such as Tutorial on alternate language support and adding voices as well as Tutorial on speed and pitch options.
