Changes:

uBO requires a new permission, dns, which is required to solve issue 780. This may triggers a new permission warning from Firefox when uBO updates to the latest dev build, specifically "Access IP address and hostname information", even though this was already possible for uBO to access that information.

From now on uBO will CNAME-uncloak network requests. CNAME-uncloaked network requests will appear as blue entries in the popup panel and the logger. The uncloaked entries in the popup panel will also show the related aliases (in smaller characters underneath the canonical names).

Network requests which were blocked, redirected, or excepted by a filter/rule are not uncloaked. Canonical hostnames which are first party to the associated alias hostname are not fed back into uBO's filtering engine.

Warning: CNAME-aliased hostnames exist most likely for content delivery purpose, i.e. legitimate.

Судя по тому что в голове у разработчиков, они просто пытаются закрыть ещё один способ отслеживания. Разработчикам же firefox/расширения следует пофиксить возможность утечки локального DNS.

When any software becomes popular, there rises a question on it's ethics related to it's users. uBlock Origin does not access your host's IP - dns API only allows to resolve domain names using your DNS, but firefox seems to mislead users on that matter showing confusing prompts:

In theory, everything can damage your anonimity, but it seems there's no need to worry too much on that case.

I hope developers are really just trying to make another way of tracking people impossible. While firefox/extension developers should fix possibility of local DNS leaks.

Thanks for supporting new Firefox preview for android

To the people who write and spread negative reviews about the "Access IP address and hostname information" permission, please go read the patchnotes that the developer take the time to write for us for each release (+githud issues for more infos) instead of ranting and spreading misinformations. This new permission is used to uncloak hidden nasty new ways of tracking, and reveals tons of hidden CDNs in the process.
uBlock is an open source, featured extension, and Firefox developers work very closely with its developer (guess which is the first extension supported by Firefox Preview on Android?). There are plenty of contributors, meaning the code is audited by many people.
Honestly, I'm glad we have an extension like uBO with so much security and privacy features & vigilance, and actively developed through all those years.
Kudos to the main dev and all the contributors. Thanks for helping us with your hard quality work!

People should really do more research before they write reviews. The new version is asking for "IP address and hostname information" due to a Firefox update that makes add-ons display this wording if they use the DNS API. It does not actually collect your machine's IP/hostname, contrary to what other people are claiming.

Did and extensive testing of uBlock after the new permissions. I also compared with the previous version. The conclusion: Previous versions of uBlock did NOT track your IP and/or device. This new version that request new permissions, DO use your host name and access your IP.

There has been a lot of speculations about this recently. I have no idea what happened with uBlock, so I choose not to go into that. I can, however, confirm that there is data mining going on with this version. What happens with the user information (IP address, Host information / Name and Device information) I have no way to know from the tests.
