It doesn't switch between the tabs but instead closes and reopens the tabs. Every tab on the group is reloaded. You can use https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/experimental-simple-tab-groups/ from the same developer for proper tab hide/show but its experimental.

I'll give it 3 stars because it works and it is a great addon, but I still can't find one that makes fast switching. I hope they fix it fast! Thanks a lot!

Fast switching still broken. Loading 74 tabs, taking ages. I don't want the tabs loaded even the active one, I can choose which tabs to load. Please fix. or provide proper instructions! Also are they loading from cache? They shouldn't be taking that long!
It just lost 40 out of 46 tabs, and pinned tabs, in 1 group after restarting firefox The list says there are 46 tabs, but only 4 in the drop-down list and the window.- why?.
It just lost tree tab structure, folders, groups and pinned tabs when I closed and re-opened a group. Incompatible with tree tabs - sometimes doesnt preserve Tree Tabs tree structure, never preserves folders or Groups, please fix or make that clear on the download page before people start spending hours setting up.
(It DID preserve tab renaming which is good)

When it works it is very good but these issues are becoming too much! Are you going to fix these and if so WHEN, please?

It seems to randomly create new groups and doesn't save tabs in your current group so that when you change groups and return to your original group lots of tabs have disappeared

I gave it 5 stars a couple of months ago, but I have to downgrade to 1 star because if you open new tabs this extension doesn't recognize them and if you switch groups it loses the new tabs. Other extensions such as "Panorama View" and "All Tabs Helper" show all the tabs in the group including recently opened ones. If I close FF and reopen it shows all of my tabs including the new ones, but this extension still doesn't show any of recently open tabs. Other than that it works great.

I appreciate the effort of creating this add-on to make up for a lack in FF, but I'm getting a lot of errors with STG.

New groups created randomly with tabs moved in from the groups I set up.
My groups disappearing when I delete these new groups.
Opening in a random group, not the one I was last in.

I looked for a feature/bugfix request link to add these, but couldn't find one.

This add-on makes it up for the native tab groups being gone at the latest versions. The only issue I have is that when closing tabs (I got 200+ tabs open and need to close/organize them) at the bottom of the group, it scrolls up again after closing a single tab. I wish it would stay scrolled where is was. Hope you will fix this. Otherwise great add-on.

[Update: just noticed that Simple Tab Groups (STG) was updated today - to v2.4.8. This is according to FF\Recent Updates, which also states "Sorry, but there was an error loading the release notes". Might any of these factors be something to do with my total loss of all tabs and groups!?!? Seems I'm having Certificate issues in FF now also. Concidence? Mmh]

OK. In principle this add-on is exactly what's required: and easy way to switch between groups of tabs.

By this I mean it should be like a "bookmarking plus" process, whereby a group of tabs is opened, new tabs become part of that group, and all tabs are auto-saved immediately as such. In this way, the tab "Group" is kind of similar in concept to a bookmark "Folder" except the latter is wholly maintained manually (time consuming, error prone, but safe!).

Managing tabs in groups (Moving etc.) is then required, as is naming the groups. This is achieved for the most part (but could be a bit more streamlined re the deepening menus!?).

This system is good, and users - including me - are becoming highly reliant on this add-on for everyday use. Great!

But when a user looses 100's of tabs that were in numerous groups (yep - like me!), it means there's something fundamentally wrong with the design.

I am aware of the Firefox bugs mentioned in various places, but this add-on needs a solid, fully-tested means of automatically backing up groups of tabs. In my case, Win10 glitched and put apps in a semi-disabled state, so MS have caused this, but still...

Having no obvious means to recover tabs is a REAL pain. I do have a manual backup of 2-3 weeks ago, but that's way out of date even after 1 hour of serious browsing, working, researching etc. etc.).

IMO, I don't see the need for 'live' or always open tabs when switching groups. Keep it simple I say. I group tabs (or did before it all went awol) by 'project' and by 'work mode' (e.g. "MX5 rebuild" and "Web Training"
etc.)

So my advice is to set a clear requirement spec and stick to it! Get it working and really reliable (users will help!!). Then... see what users want. A lot of good work has gone into this Addon and it's potentially brilliant, but it's popularity will turn to hatred with no crash recovery options. Crashes happen (MS!) and are OK actually (what!?!) as long as they're not too often (a sad state of current day software running under Windows, but that's modern life for ya!).

I hope the developer can assist me (and others!) and I can recover my groups, but otherwise I can't afford another "total loss" and will have to ditch this add-on :(

Добрый день! Все хорошо, только есть один момент. Если в группе много открытых страниц-то хочется их закрепить. А если закрепляешь-то при открытии новой группы закрепленные страницы открываются и в новой группе. Если бы это можно было бы исправит-было бы здорово

It's fast and almost never crashes at least in my case, which makes it even less time-consuming than the old add-on. One thing I don't like about it is that it messes the order of the tabs when switching from one group to another. Hope the developers will fix this issue in upcoming updates. Then I guess it'll deserve a 5-star rating.

I would really enjoy this extension if it didn't close and open tabs when changing groups (the old extension would hide and show tabs, not close and open them). I understand that Firefox did not give much control over tabs until recently but I believe they do now allow control of visibility so there is no need to close and open tabs when moving groups

It is a first that is nearest Tab Groups.
