You can no longer add your current text to an ongoing "list" of saved text in a single lengthening document, you just get "(1)" to "(109)" in your (109) tiny titles. You can ask for and receive a dialog box pop-up to choose where to save you file BUT you can't set anything but the default "Downloads" as your own "default." Such a my folder in Downloads called Text-to-File Web Docs folder.
I give version 2.73 SIX stars and use it on my older computers with love and abandon. But for my needs I have to give all the versions since 2.73 (Firefox 57+) a very frustrating zero.
If it gets its old power back I will re-review in glowing terms, but right now it's just frustrating to open dozens (109 files today) to combine them by hand for web research on a particular topic. EXTRA: Now it doesn't even change the titles (109) to (110) for you to save; you have to rename each file by hand.

Mr. Byrne,
Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me exactly where the problems between your Add-On and the new and "improved" Firefox releases reside. I have had similar experiences with several other of my favorite and most useful Add-Ons. I'm sorry Firefox/Mozilla is giving you (and so many of us) so much trouble and though I wish you could make Save Text To File glorious again I understand why it would just be a lot of trouble. And it makes me sad.
For my part I may have a work-around (I haven't looked at the dangers yet) to be able to use 2.73 on my computers with newer OS's. For times when I'm specifically doing dedicated subject research where your work is so helpful I'm just going to reinstall a pre-FF-57 browser and work from there. If your Add-On is as important to others as it is to me perhaps my idea will resonate with some other users. Or maybe when I try I will accidentally have both browsers running at the same time on my computer and smoke will start to fill the room.
I am grateful for your great works! And again for anyone reading, I give version 2.73 a solid SIX stars out of five.

The reason for the limited features in latest versions is due to how Firefox itself has been re-architected. Firefox has removed a number of key API that this extension originally used as they do not plan on re-adding them unfortunately.

    version 2.7.1 would allow date and time stamps in line, like this on a .csv, in appending mode:
    Date stamp: 30-09-2022,Time stamp: 22-45-01,https://URL.com,,text-saved

    Can this be implemented on this new post-add-on apocalypse version?

    I've tried {DD-MM-YYYY} in Template Text, but this didn't work.

    Funciona muy bien, es simple y clara. No es necesario instalar la segunda aplicacion si no se quiere guardar en otra carpeta.

    Show notifications feature not working.The save feature with the Python plugin is problematic. Usually it gives an error.Actually, it was exactly the addon I was looking for, but unfortunately it does not work properly.

    It is really frustrating that I've tried many times to install the Host Application,strictly following your instructions but failed every time. Could you kindly provide a video demo? Besides, does the Uniquify function means I can append new text to the original file? Thank you and best regards!

    После обновления на Firefox 79, после чистки кэша Firefox программой CCleaner, у дополнения сбросились все настройки.
    Настроил заново, всё работает.

    P.S.
    Оказывается теперь в файле "storage-sync-v2.sqlite-wal" хранятся настройки приложений, и данного в том числе. Добавить его в исключения в программах-чистильщиках.

    Save Text to File works perfectly, thank you for making it!

    However:
    The add-on does nothing on its addons.mozilla.org page.
    It just fails without an error message.
    IMHO, this is significant, because many people will test the add-on immediately after installing it.

    Suggestion:
    If the user is currently on a website where the add-on doesn't work:
    Please show an error message when the user clicks on the context menu entry, or remove / gray out the context menu entry.

    This add-on grays out its icon and shows the tooltip "Save Page WE - cannot be use with this page" on any addons.mozilla.org page:

    Useful extension but I don't get one thing: If I highlight more text fragments from the same page, can this extension add the different fragments to the same file without creating a lot of different files? Because at the moment I've tried every option available in the 'option' menu but I can get this thing done (i.e. the option 'Uniquify', which I think it's the one supposed to do the job, doesn't work).
