• Side panel — open Canny Notes beside your work instead of on top of it. AI,
notes, highlights and folders in one place, with chat history and text-size
controls. Open it from the sidebar button or press Alt+Shift+C.

• Choose which AI answers — a model picker sits next to the composer. Gemini and
GPT-OSS are included for everyone. The credit counter follows whichever model
you pick, so the number always describes what your next message will cost.

• AI Plus — a new optional tier adding Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Qwen, with 100
premium credits a day on top of your standard allowance. Free and Pro are
unchanged; nothing here is required to keep using the extension as before.

• Slash commands — type "/" in the AI box for templates, grammar and rewriting
actions, tone changes, translation, and help.

• Placeholders — leave {blanks} in a note and Canny Notes asks for the values
when you insert it.

• Highlights you can edit anywhere — annotate a page in the colour you pick, then
edit or remove those notes from the side panel or the dashboard.

• Consistent formatting — notes keep their layout in every view. Copying carries
formatting into rich editors and pastes clean text into plain fields.

• Better grammar checking — Retry offers a genuinely different correction and
stops once it has run out, rather than repeating itself.

Fixes
• The sign-in card's heading was invisible against its own background. Both it
and the body text now meet WCAG AA contrast.
• "View Plans & Pricing" did nothing. It now opens the pricing page. The Sign In
button beside it had the same fault and is fixed too.
• The model picker could silently show only "Auto" once a session passed an
hour. It now loads reliably.
• Credit counts follow the model you selected, rather than showing an allowance
that message cannot spend.
• You are no longer charged a premium credit when a premium model is unavailable
and a standard model answers instead.
• Removed the on-page launcher button on Firefox. Firefox does not allow an
injected button to open the sidebar, so it could never work — use the sidebar
icon or Alt+Shift+C.
• Removed a development-only allowance that let local pages talk to the add-on.
• The privacy policy now names every AI provider a request may reach.

• Free spelling & grammar checking. Mistakes are underlined as you type — click one to fix it. It runs entirely offline on your own device, and it never uses AI credits.

• "Fix grammar" in the AI menu is now free for everyone. It uses the same offline engine, so it costs nothing and your text is never sent anywhere.

• Sign in with Google. One tap, no new password, and your notes stay encrypted.

• Annotate any page. Select text anywhere and use the pencil to highlight it and attach your own note.

• Highlights are easier to scan. A note is now shown as a small marker you can click to open, instead of a block of text pushing your highlights apart.

• The menu bar stays open by default. You can switch collapsing back on in Settings.

• Recovered annotations that were saved but not showing in the highlights list.
