WARNING: SPYWARE

7 months ago, I wrote a 5/5 review, because I've been using Fakespot for searching Amazon products. So I was happy to get a convenient Firefox add-on.

I stopped using this addon a few months ago. Not only does it make Amazon lag, but seems to be active on more than just Amazon.

So just to be clear, you're just basically giving a third party a free reign on your browser activities, going through every store you use.

Not only are they monitoring your store uses, but you can bet your ass they are selling this info to parties like Amazon and Google, among other spywares, who want to monitor where you purchase and what.

This is a privacy nightmare on a whole new level.

Cherry on top? They disabled searches on their site. So now you HAVE to use their add-on.

Haha, no. You're out.

    Fakespot was formerly one of the best Firefox add-ons. Since it is now GONE, Fakespot is useless. I need an alternative. Dear Fakespot - Firefox: WHY?????

    still works past the 1st somehow for me. rating 1 star bc i'm mad at mozilla for pulling a microsoft and shutting down something that a lot of people relied upon. especially without any given reason or any news from the original developers as to why. this was genuinely one of THE BEST extensions you couldve gotten for firefox, outside of privacybadger and ublock origin. why did you buy this if you're just going to shut it down 2 years later? what would be smarter is either keeping it up, letting the original devs have it back, make it open source, or implement the feature directly into the browser itself. extremely dumb decision.

    How disappointing to see it go. 😭 I'm working on a replacement add-on for myself and others, in case anyone wants to get notified when it's released. The site can be found at truestar.pro.

    This extension will be gone after July 1, 2025. I am really going to miss it. For the few months I used it I came to rely on it's ratings. I hope it returns.
