I work at an I.T. place and it is a weekly occurrence for individuals to bring in their computers claiming they have malware because they got redirected to an adware or malicious webpage.

I've never once encountered such an issue myself. Part of it is just making smart choices online (I.e. Perhaps don't click that random ad... Or go to that sketchy website..) and part of it is using this extension.

When Malwarebytes first came on the scene it was an addon to ones current security great especially for lower quality solutions like what Microsoft provided they also had a pro version (pay once) lifetime updates; great. Over the years as the the industry switched is payment schemes and threats real or imagined became more frequent; Malwarebytes evolved. As a power user I've used lots of free & paid versions security software. I find Malwarebytes is actively improving and I so glad that they haven't wiggled out of their promises they made when they first started. Free software these days is limited; havng a paid version means better support when needed, fully unlocked features, regular updates equaling peace of mind; Malwarebytes Premium is the way to go and with the way it runs. An additional low profile solution running along with it is good too combined with Microsoft's solutions that are useful.... Remember regular backups and the knowledge that a lock is not your safety. It only keeps out the those who are not committed to be where they shouldn't.

This is the most useful extension I have ever seen, I accidentally went into a scam website and it blocked me right away! It saved my computer.

Browser Guard works great, I haven't been using it that long now, but I have had a lot less problems than I used to have since I started using it and will continue to use it. I highly recommend it to anyone who is tired of getting hassled or is worried about anything weird coming to their PC.

Blocks trackers as expected and I have this as full protection paid software on my PC & phone.

I'm a skilled PC user, but this add-on has helped save me from accidentally opening scam/imposter websites several times. Since adding it to Firefox, my SUPERAntiSpyware scans have also picked up way, way less PUPs and trackers to clean! It's definitely effective and I consider this to be a vital add on to get whenever I've had to reset a device or use a new one.

The only problem I have with it is that it has no accessible whitelist option. You have to go into your browser's add-on settings and completely disable it if you ever find that it's blocking an important popup. Though that's rare and it's still more than worth the benefits.
