It does what it promises to do, but just about. Summaries and conversations aren't as in-depth and incisive as frontier LLMs, but that's to be expected. Can't really complain too much about a completely free AI product with seemingly no usage cap. Hopefully future iterations will leverage more powerful models, allowing Orbit to truly hit its potential and become one of the best free AI tools out there. I'd definitely give it 5 stars then.

Though it works, there are few things to be dealt with:
1. This isn't open source.
How can users just provide all their privacy content without knowing whether their data will be abused?
If it's open source add-on, at least somebody can audit its code.

2. Lack of customisation ability.
Users may have their own prompts to make Orbit speak in certain style they preferred, or summarise their emails in some structured format, but there isn't any option for us to do so.

3. Support more languages.
Well, if your statement is true, the instance you hold is Mistral 7B.
Then why Orbit only speaks few language (or only English)?
Mistral 7B is a multi-lingual model, so I guess you either etched some prompt into it or the model behind the closed-source interface isn't mistral 7B (that's why I want open source, otherwise we don't know what exactly happened there).

4. Font
The current font size and style are not reader-friendly at all.

It seems exceptionally promising (no AI training etcetera).
I hope it will be available in Italian soon, to help my father :)

unable to use, no response after submission

It needs some work. It's okay at providing summaries, but almost nothing else. Understanding page context is fairly lacking and the responses are brief, lacking creativity or suggestions that you'd find in similar AI like Copilot.

No option to connect to local models (at least OpenAi compatible API). No custom prompts.

Works fine wich YouTube Videos. Wish it would provide other languages.

This is great but the responses are not very detailed. I'd like the ability to choose a detailed response.Edit: sorry, I should have mentioned but I already tried the paragraph response and it was still very compact. Needs to be more detailed.

Precisa traduzir para outras línguas (Português Brasileiro) e também ler em viva voz (com controle de velocidade) no respectivo idioma.

If I can't add my own prompt or have the assistant pop up when I select text, then what's the point of this extension?! 👎

Firefox Orbit is a decent summarization tool, but it falls short for users who want flexibility. It does not support external API keys like Google Gemini or OpenAI, making it useless for those who prefer other AI models.

Since it's not open source and doesn’t allow custom APIs, its claims about privacy and data security feel questionable.
