Privacy Policy for SafeSight Tool
Last Updated: 10/5/2025
This Privacy Policy describes how SafeSight Tool ("the Extension") handles information when you install and use it from Mozilla Firefox Add-ons. The Extension is designed to enhance your web browsing safety and efficiency whilst fully respecting your privacy.
Information We Do Not Collect
SafeSight Tool operates entirely locally on your device. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any of your personal information or browsing activity with any external servers or third parties. This includes:
Your browsing history, websites visited, or search queries
Personal data you enter into websites
Your IP address or location
Any information about your use of the Extension
Information Handled Locally by the Extension
The Extension requires certain Firefox permissions to function. All data processing occurs locally within your browser.
User Settings (storage permission):
The Extension uses Firefox's local storage to save your preferences for filters (e.g., grayscale, blur, colour tones, media display options), declutter settings, wellbeing timer configurations (if enabled), and any notes you enter into the "Notes" tab within the extension's interface.
This data is stored only on your device and is not accessible to us or any third party. It is used solely to ensure your settings persist between browsing sessions and across different tabs.
Access to Web Page Content (URLs, activeTab, scripting permissions):
To apply visual filters, declutter web pages, modify media display, and gather information for the "Copy Session Info" feature, the Extension needs to access and modify the content of the web pages you visit.
Content Modification: All modifications (e.g., applying grayscale, hiding elements, creating placeholders for media) are performed directly within your browser on the web page's content. No content from the pages you visit is sent to us.
"Copy Session Info" Feature: This feature, when activated by you, collects the current page URL, page title, a timestamp, any notes you've entered in the Extension's "Notes" tab, and counts/URLs of images and videos on the page. This information is then copied to your device's clipboard for you to paste and use as you see fit. The Extension does not automatically transmit this information anywhere; you control its dissemination after copying.
Notifications (notifications permission):
This permission is requested to enable the automatic wellbeing timer to display in-page modal reminders. The Extension uses this permission only to create non-obtrusive in-page modals, not system-level notifications. No notification data or interaction is sent to us.
Mozilla and Firefox Add-ons
SafeSight Tool is distributed through Mozilla Firefox Add-ons. Mozilla may collect certain data about the Extension's installation and usage in accordance with Mozilla's privacy policy. We do not have access to this data. For more information about Mozilla's data collection practices, please refer to Mozilla's privacy policy.
External Links
The Extension includes a link to an external website (Freetetris.org) for the Tetris game in the Wellbeing tab. Clicking this link will take you to that external site, which has its own privacy policy and terms of service. SafeSight Tool does not control and is not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites.
Data Security
Since all settings and data processed by SafeSight Tool are stored locally on your device, the security of this data depends on the security of your device and Firefox browser. We do not have access to this local data.
Children's Privacy
SafeSight Tool is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the relevant age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
Updates and Add-on Reviews
When you install SafeSight Tool from Mozilla Firefox Add-ons, Firefox may automatically check for and install updates. This process is handled by Mozilla according to their policies, not by us.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, we may provide additional notice (such as adding a statement to our extension's description or update notes). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about our information practices.
