No matter what page I go to it says the toolbar icon is greyed out and can't be opened. Useless

Unfortunately, when it eats default keybinds, it also hides them from other apps, and that limits its utility (though you can instead use them to trigger another keyboard shortcut, that only works with shortcuts internal to the extension. You can't use it to send keypresses)

It's a really good add-on which provides shortcut functionality which firefox normally doesn't have. The only criticism I have is that the shortcut input field doesn't ignore whitespace.

Sadly it does not disable F11, even if you set it to do nothing when that key is pressed (it must be 1 of the ones it can not change) a list of all the keys it can not change would have been nice (and saved time). Thus the reason my review is 3 stars not 1 and why I will be removing this now (its useless for me if it cant do that).

Working great for me on my desktop and my laptop since several years. Only problem I have recently noticed is that it works too well on Reddit. When I try to type in a comment or post something the shortcuts are still active. With every "o" I type I go back to the previous page ;) Is there a possibility to setup exceptions for specific websites?

Works perfectly for me, the "Run Javascript" option is just what I needed.

I didn't need to remap an existing browser hotkey for my own use yet, but remapping at least some of those works after restarting the browser.

Doesn't work

Amazing!!! I have a common TV keyboard with a simple touchpad on the right, nice to browse the web, youtube, with a mini PC connected to the big screen. One thing that I was missing was a Go Back and a Go Forward, easy one key action...
So this amazing addon, just now let do "backspace backspace" to go back in history, and "del del" to go forward! Simply pressing twice these keys, now my browsing is perfectly lazy! XD Great Work guys!!! EDIT: AND... It does not interfere if you are typing text! It just works!

Good to know: while in most programs you can set custom shortcut by just pressing the right keys and the software will "record" your key combination, here you have to litteraly TYPE the shortcut you want (e.g., type "ctrl+shift+k").
Don't forget to press "Save" at the end and voila! ... It works.

YOU ALSO CAN OVERRIDE DEFAULT FIREFOX SHORTCUTS. So I don't understand all the negative reviews stating you can't.

Just keep in mind what the developer says:
* restart Firefox for your new shortcut to work
* shortcuts only work once the page has completely loaded.
* shortcuts don't work on 'internal' Firefox pages, like the page your reading right know.

Useless, I expected to remove many of the current shortcuts set in Firefox ... it permits only ADD new ones.

I do not understand the multiple 1 star reviews for this addon. It does what it says in the description. One can create custom keyboard shortcuts for use in the browser. I don't have a ton of shortcuts [only half a dozen] but the extension does the job. It also has backup/restore option and despite not being updated in nearly 3 years, still works.

Cannot over-write FF default keyboard shortcuts, so a pointless waste of time IMO.

More correctly, I hate that this extension is necessary in the first place. Firefox should bloody well let me configure my own shortcuts and whatnot.

Shortkeys itself is superb, it does what it's supposed to do, five stars and all that, THANK YOU for writing it!

i wanted this for the same reason i wanted custom key shortcuts on Firefox though to my disappointment it turns out most of the keys you assign commands to are already in use by the browser already totes not worth installing tbh.
