Broken since a couple of week or maybe 1-2 months ago because if I use it with a VPN it gives me 100 captcha checks a day. terrible terrible user experience

Was using this just fine for a while. Haven't been bothered by AI nonsense, and the search results are decent. Until today, when it decided to take issue with my VPN and block me from searching until...whenever it decides to unblock me, I guess? It had me fill out a form, then said I'd still be blocked until whenever it decides to unblock me. Useless to me now, I guess. Bye!

Considering one of their reps went online and stated they didn't use AI and they're pushing an AI feature,I have little choice but to believe they're being disingenuous in other ways.

1) Searching from the address bar reveals your search to your ISP
2) Searches from the address bar default to Safe Search: Moderate and there's no way to change that.

Just use a bookmark instead or make Startpage your home page.

I was so excited to find this as an alternative to Google, but it's been taking up my searches with animated popups right in the way of my search, asking me to add them to my Ad-block Whitelist and to try their new AI tool.

It's actively getting in the way of searches and harming the user experience. I'm not a fan of DuckDuckGo's results and policies, but I'm switching back.

This is the ONLY search engine that hasn't included clankers like Gemini or Duck.AI (PLEASE advertise this, this is a major thing for me). On top of that, it is functional, and cares about my privacy. It's the trifecta!

It seems to me that nearly all issues mentioned by reviews that are not 5 starts are not relevant anymore. Thanks for a great search engine that actually shows me results. On google, searching for "PCGarage free delivery" gets me an Emag result first, that isn't sponsored...how the heck does that work?...

Cannot search from the address bar without my ISP seeing what I'm searching. Please keep the search terms OUT OF THE ADDRESS BAR when searching from the address bar with Startpage. Is there a way to manually configure a Startpage search string so the search terms do not populate the address bar- when searching from the address bar with Startpage? Thanks.

NEVERMIND: I'm getting hit with "Sponsored" BS a the top of my search results. Back to DDG.

I went to the startpage site because duckduckgo was having issues briefly, and I added the search add-on, the type that you used to get on mycroft, in case I ran into trouble like that again. When I did this, it surreptitiously went ahead and installed this full browser extension as well. The process was either without my consent, or made to look like I was consenting to the thing I actually wanted.

Go figure, sketchy behavior by the company that used to use Alex Jones as a poster boy. I'm ticking with Duckduckgo, but I was alwas going to. This just confirmed my feelings about Startpage.

Very handy search engine but startpage.com is not available in China /(ㄒoㄒ)/~
