(EDITED to reflect the problem-solving update.) This add-on didn't work on repubblica.it (a newspaper). However, the developer looked into it, and he won it over at last! This is the first "stop auto reload" extension that works on that site, as far as I know. The developer reacted quickly to my comment, and the problem was fixed in 48 hours or so.

The extension has been updated and there is a now a section in the Options page that can stop a different URL from loading, if a tab is currently being stopped. Input "https://www.repubblica.it/index.html?refresh_ce" in that textarea and that should stop "https://www.rebublica.it/" from refreshing.
