If the timestamps are hard coded into the url, then restoring the previous session will send you to a fixed point in the video every time, making it have the opposite of useful for resuming.

This will make resuming navigating to and resuming videos in your browser slightly less accurate (maybe a few seconds behind your last watched moment).

Note: Timecodes can still be used just fine, just the thumbnails you click in your browser will no longer automatically have timecodes if you have partially watched videos.
