the bundled font change is jarring, I'd much rather use a font that is consistent with my system. The "a" used to have a hat (not round) and the characters used to have smaller proportions, for example.

That aside... it's quite good at recognizing words.

Thank you! That's very good feedback. I've filed an issue at https://github.com/birchill/10ten-ja-reader/issues/1799 and will see what other users think of the change.

At very least, we can restore the hat on the "a" very easily and we could add an option to use a system font too.

Update: We've just released a new version (1.19.1) which adds a setting to use system fonts. Thanks for the feedback!

    Great extension. Could you please add a way to copy hiragana/katakana that shows the romaji as well? It would be really helpful for people who are starting with japanese. Quite often I have to copy the expression into google translate to see the romaji.

    I'm afraid I couldn't quite follow your suggestions, however. If you enable romaji display in the settings and look at a work like テスト you should see "tesuto" in the popup and also when you copy the entry.

    (Note that the extension will not work on addons.mozilla.org because Firefox blocks extensions from working there.)

    Seems promising, but there's no Japanese monolingual dictionary — avoid this extension if you want to actually learn the language.

    This dictionary is doing all that I could dream of. Instant recognition via mouseover, the dictionary is complete, erudite but also very simple to access if you just want a straightforward translation.
    Once you look up the word, you can find the kanji decomposition. It's detailed and easy at the same time. Please try.
