In Tor Browser, Tab Session Manager does Auto Save all sessions.
In Firefox, Tab Session Manager does not Auto Save any session.

In Tor Browser, opening, or restoring, a saved session works.

In both Firefox and Tor Browser, Keyboard Shortcuts do not work.

Addition after the original review.

I shut down Firefox and then restarted Firefox a little before midnight on Saturday 2025 / January / 04 , about 27 hours ago. On Sunday 2025 / January / 05 between 02:00 and 02:45, I looked at my computer's Download folder and noticed a folder that I had not seen before. I saw that the Tab Session Manager Auto Save folder had been created at 23:57 on Saturday, about the time I shut down and restarted Firefox. I then looked at the creation dates and times of the files in the three folders contained in the Auto Save folder. All files were created between 23:57 and 23:59 on Saturday.

The first file in the file list was named 2025-01-03 03-07-31 - FoxyTab Options #regular - [61{Redacted}-{Redacted}9-4{Redacted}-9{Redacted}-{Redacted}f].json, and it had a Created date and time of Saturday January 4, 2025, 23:58:13. Notice that the first part of the name is a date and time, specifically the date and time when Tab Session Manager created an auto save session. Notice also that the file's Created date and time is about 45 hours after Tab Session Manager created the auto save session contained in that file. Tab Session Manager should have saved the auto save session into a file and placed that file in the appropriate Auto Save folder at the same time that it auto saved the session.

    For years, this add-on has suffered from a persistent bug: after an unknown background action, the "Open" button in the Saved Sessions Manager suddenly stops working. I’ve spent several hours troubleshooting, but the technical root cause remains elusive.

    Here is what I have established so far:

    Profile Corruption: Something is corrupting the user profile. Creating a fresh profile resolves the issue, but only temporarily.

    No Add-on Conflicts: I have 100% ruled out conflicts with other extensions.

    Clean Install: The issue is not caused by leftover data; a full, clean re-installation of Firefox did not fix it.

    The most important point: While I cannot pinpoint the exact trigger in the code, I am able to reproduce the bug reliably. I am happy to assist with further questions or testing.

    I normally really like and enjoy this add-on, but there is a horrible bug, which from time to time deletes all sessions and lefts a blank session manager. I dont know if it has to do with updates or something like that. But just today after a long time not saving my sessions in a separate file they are gone.

    It used to work fine on Firefox mac, now nothing happens when you click OPEN or OPEN IN NEW WINDOW.

    Hopefully, it will get fixed soon.

    Fundamentally useless. 'Open' button for saved tabs cannot be coaxed to work, at all. F$^# this piece of s#$^%.

    It prevents the device from receiving tabs that were shared with it... other than that, I like it, but that feature is more important than this add-on.

    It's highly customizable, and it works exactly as I want it to.

    Please add support for local PDFs, so they can be reopened when restarting the browser.

    I am a paid user of other browsers. I tried the Firefox version, but I encountered a few frustrating points. For example, when restoring a session at startup, the window shifts slightly to the left. It would also be nice if it supported title-changing extensions like Window Titler, but this might be unavoidable until Firefox officially supports it.

    I hope for future improvements!

    Almost does the job, but tab groups are destroyed, as others have mentioned.

    Firefox closed all my tabs without warning and couldn't restore them from its own session backup files, even though those files contained all my tabs. This extension helped me restore them all easily, which saved me from having to restore a large number of tabs manually, one by one.
    If this extension wasn't there, I would have replaced Firefox with another browser.

    Once every few months, it randomly dedices to delete all my sessions and reset my settings. Absolute trash.

    This extension used to be great! I donated a few times. Today I had to force restart my computer and Firefox came up with no tabs! I checked the Tab Session Manager and the last save it had was from over a year ago! I guess the auto save doesn't work any more and all the sessions I did have saved are gone. This extension is totally broken now.

    Did not save the "tree" from "tree stile tabs", and I did make sure to have "Restore tree state of Tree Style Tab." checked.

    Unlike the session restore built into Firefox, this add-on does not retain or associate an individual tab's browsing history when a new browser session is launched. I use this quite a lot, so I may look for a different add-on which does support this.

    Would've rated it higher had the manual export setting functionality included the sessions I had saved.

    Doesn't save tab groups. Also says it supports importing JSON files from Session Buddy, but it does no such thing. It gives me a read failed error.

    Used to be one of my absolute favourite extensions, but since stopped working as intended. It does save my browser windows, but I can't restore them except for clicking and restoring every tab single-handedly.
