- Valutata 2 su 5di RCAdddiction, 4 anni faIt's a positive that Fakespot finally works with Firefox as well as it did in Chrome. I've stopped using Chrome due to privacy issues. I use Chrome only to shop on Amazon to see the Fakespot review and then close it.
However, it's a huge negative that FS pops up and interferes with non-Amazon, non-eBay sites. The plug-in also seems to have far too many permissions, tracking every site to which a user goes. This is a bridge too far. I'm disabling it for the moment, but likely am going to uninstall this overly intrusive tracker. Again, if there's no charge for a product, then you are the product. I'm not going to be FakeSpot's product. - I don't want an add-on that watches my browsing. Developer responded to several reviews saying that you can still use fakespot on the website menu, but clicking the menu link does nothing.
I get that you aren't doing this out of the goodness of your hearts, and that you need to monetize it somehow, but I'm not in love with the 'harvesting my data' option. - I don't appreciate the Firefox add-on being pushed so hard, even if the original analyzer bar is still available (it's certainly not in an obvious spot anymore). I'm not going to install an add-on that wants access to all the webpages I visit. You didn't need that before, so you don't need that now. In response to the developer telling everyone to go read the privacy policy: your privacy policy literally says you track usage in order to serve users adds.

Thanks for your feedback. We are not forcing anyone to install the extension. Our analyzer bar is and will always be available in our website's menu.
Please send the product on Best Buy you were having issues with so we can take a look into why our extension is covering a coupon. That is not the experience we want any of our customers to have.
Best,

ReviewMeta, a competing service, has an extension which does not require global permissions.

Thanks for your feedback. We do not harbor any kind of ill intent against your privacy. Instead, we greatly value your privacy and encourage you to read our privacy policy.
We require these permissions because we analyze hundreds of thousands of Shopify web stores. Other popular shopping extensions such as Honey and Rakuten require the same permissions because they also have to work on many websites.
While we cannot comment on Reviewmeta's privacy practices, their service only analyzes Amazon. Fakespot analyzes Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Best Buy, Sephora, and Shopify web stores.
If you have any questions about our privacy policy and practices please email us at contact@fakespot.com.

We will be back on iOS soon. Amazon's accusations of us misleading customers are baseless.

Fakespot - Valutata 1 su 5di Utente Firefox 13358663, 4 anni faI used Fakespot constantly for Amazon for a long time, and have always appreciated that service. And I don't mind developers wanting a revenue stream, however the idea that they want permission to scan every URL I visit, basically tracking my internet activity? Ridiculously intrusive and a deal breaker for me. No way I download this extension.

Best,
Fakespot - There is no reason why this addon needs to scan every single site I visit. It should be restricted to only domains I want it to check or domains it has an active database for. Gathering data on every site I visit for no reason with no way for me to disable it is predatory and why I wont trust this service ever again.
