Tried to write with it and it doesn't work. It suggests corrections, but if you click on the corrected words it doesn't change them to the correct term. To top it off, you have to turn it on every time on a site and it doesn't even work for that time either.

it works really good if you only speak english, but if you speak multiple languages, it then moans about me being illiterate and i gotta fix my text.
i dont even know if there is a proper way without using AI to be able to have more than 1 languages and it can detect itself what im using, because i tend to switch between english and swedish very often. i know languagetool did this, but now with them asking people to pay 5$ monthly as if its some movie streaming website and not just a firefox addon for grammar, i'm forced to look elsewhere.

I gave this add-on one more try. Nothing has changed. It's still crap.

Fantastic grammatical add-on from amateur English learners to professional wordsmiths. The complete lack of bloated AI features, paywalls, and major issues makes this a must-have for most Firefox users. Hats off to the developers and I greatly appreciate the work involved to create this brilliant tool!

After LanguageTool got into bed with AI, that was it for me. Having this run locally to run spell check is just what I need.

Language tool is now payware only, I just wanted something to check my spelling and grammar in message and form fields and this does the job 100% and better.

LanguageTools told me that their browser extension is now for premium members only. After reading that news, LT was removed. The search for a replacement lead me to Harper. After trying Harper for 5 minutes, it was obvious that Harper is the perfect LT replacement. Thank you Elijah!

Basically a good idea, both for privacy and responsiveness.
However it works generally really bad. Doesn't make difference between British and American English, it often flags correct words or makes wrong suggestions, sometimes doesn't even works and it gets stuck at half of the words.

Unfortunately, it needs a lot of work to be a useful alternative to all other high-priced grammar checkers.

So far so good. Love it, but I was testing it just for an hour, so I'll edit my review if anything pops up.

It's not bad, it's just really buggy and unresponsive. I hope this gets fixed

It constantly flags common people names and degrees even with all the filters turned on. Just a pain to use for correspondence.

Big fan of this extension conceptually, but I've found that it just… doesn't work sometimes? :( I have a problem where the Harper editor box will appear within the text box, so I both can't see what I'm typing and can't see the recommended edits. It also struggles with allowing me to accept suggestions sometimes. There have been a few times where I've clicked on a suggestion and it doesn't change anything so I have to manually edit it. I already love the lack of AI being forced onto me as well as the privacy aspect, though. If these issues could be resolved, this extension would be even more fantastic!

i love this extension since it's anti ai + ykyk, but i also would appreciate LOTS if these mix-ups could potentionally be addressed sometime? i understand if it might be too hard to code, but yeah.

the autocorrect suggested i change snuck to sneaked, okay. i do that. THEN the autocorrect tells me to change sneaked to snuck? mannn....i can never win...

I really wanted to like it, but code starting with "harper-render-box" is being inserted directly into the text field in a forum I visit regularly. Even when I disable Harper on that particular site, a shorter string of code is still inserted. I have to edit the post to delete it. I do not know WHY it happens, only that it also seem to affect my installation of Darkreader, since some of its injected code is revealed as well. Only uninstalling the addon completely cleared the issue.

I posted the issue on GotHub as clearly as I could: githubDOTcom/Automattic/harper/issues/2913. I will try it again after several months have passed, to see if the issue is gone.

I recently started using Harper in my browsers, but also in Visual Studio Code. It works very well, and I like the focus on privacy. Thanks Elijah!
