Stream Finder — Privacy Policy

Stream Finder ("the Extension") is a browser extension that provides a search interface for streaming content catalog websites configured by the user. This privacy policy explains what data the Extension handles and how.

1. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information
• We do not use analytics, tracking, or telemetry
• We do not share data with third parties
• We do not sell data
• We do not serve advertisements
• We do not have our own servers — the Extension communicates only with the website URL configured by the user

2. What the Extension Stores Locally

All data is stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. It never leaves your device. Specifically:

• Configured website URL — The URL you enter during setup
• Preferred language — Your selected interface language (EN, IT, DE, ES, or FR)
• Recent notifications list — Titles of recently added content found during periodic checks
• Last check timestamp — Used to determine which items are new

You can clear this data at any time by uninstalling the Extension.

3. Network Requests

The Extension makes HTTP requests only to the website URL configured by the user, specifically:

• {your-url}/{lang}/api/search — To fetch search results as you type
• {your-url}/{lang}/api/latest — To check for newly added content (every 15 minutes)

These requests include only the search query or a timestamp. No identifying information, cookies, or credentials are sent.

4. Permissions Used

• storage — Save your configured URL and language preference locally
• alarms — Schedule periodic background checks (every 15 minutes) for new content
• notifications — Show desktop notifications when new content is detected
• optional_host_permissions — Required dynamically only for the specific website URL you configure during setup, with your explicit consent

5. Third-Party Websites

The Extension does not control the content, privacy practices, or policies of the website you configure. When you click a search result or notification, you are taken to that website in a new browser tab, where that site's own privacy policy applies.

6. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, regardless of age.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date.
