YouTube Auto Dub Disabler di Dan McKay

YouTube Auto Dub Disabler is a lightweight Firefox extension that restores the original audio track on YouTube videos that default to AI-generated dubbing. As YouTube rolls out mortifyingly horrible automatic language dubbing across select regions and videos, many users find themselves listening to synthetic voices instead of the original speaker, bringing them ever closer to madness. This extension aims to fix that as even AI finds these dubs to be insufferable.

Once installed, the extension works silently in the background. Every time you open a YouTube video that defaults to a dubbed track, within 2-3 seconds the extension:
• Automatically opens the settings menu,
• Navigates to the audio language selector, and then
• Reverts playback to the original language (if available).

Privacy & Permissions

This extension does not collect any user data and operates entirely client-side. It only uses the minimal permissions required to run JavaScript on YouTube video pages.

Notes
• v 1.4.2 released January 3, 2025: does not make a second check if there are only five lines (or less) in the settings options.
• There is tentative support for settings in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Bahasa Indonesian, and Japanese, but it is tentative. All non-English menu support should be considered experimental for now (this is just for navigating the MENUS, not the audios, it can revert to the original in any language).
• Next version should exit after the first check if there is no audio track option, but that may have a higher fail rate, so I want to make sure it works well this way first.
