I also think this add-on is useful, but I cannot understand why this add-on updates every day.

This add-on is currently at version 0.x, which implies that it is not yet "stable" (meaning how it works and what it does are not yet finalized). You can see updates and changes here -> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/awesome-rss/versions/

The last few releases were on the 22nd, 21st, & 17th.

Are you getting updates more frequently than this?

    I thought this would be just what I wanted, a clean icon in the taskbar I could get a click and get a feed URI. dang I was wrong. this downloads a malformed XML document of what I was looking at :-\

    Kind of does what it needs to do. I would like it better if it copied the url of the RSS/Atom feed instead of tried to open or download it.

    Works in instances where regular Firefox wouldn't, it does get outshined by Firefox default a lot now, but when it counts it counts.

    This is abandonware. Last commit was in 2019.
    It does not work anymore for tt-rss, and despite someone even made a fix and a pull request, this is not merged.

    It does exactly what it promises with no issues whatsoever. I'm surprised that Firefox doesn't have this feature anymore, as RSS is what helps the open web thrive.

    Works fine in firefox 78. It does a naive search in the html for tags which point to feeds. Nothing more fancy than that.
