Zoom meeting links take you through the Zoom.us website, but they really, really want you to use their desktop or mobile apps. That's unfortunate, because the web client is the better way to go - you're already in your browser, so why load a proprietary app when you can just use the browser you're already in?
Plus, the Zoom apps are pretty awful.
With this extension installed, all Zoom meeting links will be rewritten to take you directly to the web client join screen, which they try to hide.
