One of the reasons is that Firefox could use built-in video card instead of discrete. Anyway, more productive but less smart looking approach was released (More -> Static Theme). It will be improved in future, but you can try it now.

Update: Try new Dynamic Theme mode.

    Nice extension. Really useful when you need to read something in the middle of the night or when your eyes are tired. Although it can sometimes make some websites look a bit weird in dark mode.

    It's a very good extension for dark mode; it really does make any website dark mode. However, in terms of performance, it leaves much to be desired, making any website run horribly. But on the other hand, it's a very good extension.

    i found it very easy to use. at first i looked at the menu and wondered for a while, but then i read it, found similar setting as my golden and warm days with f.lux

    brightness 0, contrast 10% and sepia 50%! perfect! many cheers!
